I don’t trust very many people online enough to communicate with them, but when I have and then hung out with them in person, they’re exactly how they seemed.
But on the other hand, you can be married to someone for years and not know them.
Kind of a weird conversation, you just have to trust your instincts.

It's also simple economics. If someone were to intend to mislead a bunch of anonymous message board members in a way that makes them (or their "boss" lol) money, the amount of effort/cost to do that effectively would be astronomical relative to the expected return. Precisely because no one here is likely to just believe an out-of-left-field negative (or even positive) post without some corroborative posts from the trusted members here. And as I said, the cost of the work to gain credibility couldn't possibly justify the return, and even then it would be one prevaricating "trusted" member versus, oh, 10 or 20 other sincere trusted members? It ain't happening, sorry.

It ain't happening, sorry. You make an important point. For a basher to be effective and worth the expense, they must have a sufficient amount of credibility. It is a confidence game. The name commonly used for men who do such things is "con man".

I’ve been patient and now I am much more comfortable because my MNKD investment has dramatically improved in value and appears poised to continue to increase in value. cretin is so wrong ... I said that I am waiting for $10/share ... then I will sell 5,400 of my most expensive shares at a profit. The rest of my shares will be given to my daughter when my wife and I leave to party with God. I'm sure he loves wine !!!
BTW, my shares will transfer to her at the rate at that time ... $100/share.

Sadly the words of PT Barnum still ring true. Con men are out there and targets/victims abound. The type of competent moderation we enjoy on ProBoards weeds out so much. It helps us be completely confident in assuring prcgorman (and anyone else with doubts) there is nobody paid by mysterious and nefarious parties to post on this message board. The closest thing we've had to a scam such as in the link above was when MTOI used to ask for $20 for his investment assistance. Even he hasn't done that in a long time (thanks MTOI!) so we are completely clear of scammers. |
