In Monty Python parlance .... (Thou must proceed to THREE.)
We've had:
1. $50m milestone
2. Exec management change
3. ?
And with #3, we do have Old Mann presenting on Wednesday rather than Hakan (which seems odd to me under circumstances). And I don't imagine he's getting onstage to do the boilerplate we just saw.
On the other hand, I would find it odd now if he did the launch announce - because SNY didn't. And so, I think, would the analyst community.
Anyone have a guess what's coming?

Al's fond farewell at the podium would be extra special if he could be the one to announce the launch of Afrezza. After over 10 years of his life and a billion of his dollars he could get up there and reiterate that Afrezza will be the biggest selling medical product ever. As he passes the torch, it just seems like it would be the right thing to let him do this.

How about that Technisphere announcement that we have been told is coming... Now that would be a nice send off...

Hakan mentioned Feb as a possible Technosphere deal timeframe.

I just confirmed launch again and still 3rd week of January so maybe Al does give Launch date on Wednesday as ashiwi suggest.

In keeping with prior conferences and cc's, I'm going to guess we'll not get what we want - Al announcing launch. However, what I think we will get is a chance for Hakan to give Al a well deserved, glorious and heartfelt introduction, and let Al give a short speech, punctuating how excited he is about the finally imminent launch of Exu... er, I mean, Afrezza (so easy to confuse the two!)
I would love the audience to greet him very warmly as he surely deserves after all these years of pushing for better treatments and products in many areas.

I think it will just be a standard "gold watch" affair with Al sent off in a manner suiting his considerable, but well deserved ego. I still have a nagging felling that Al would not retire just before launch of Afrezza, if he expected a blockbuster launch. Just my paranoia acting up again, I hope.

Regardless of how long one has been an investor in the company, we are all weary, so I completely understand the paranoid feelings. However, in this case I think it is much more likely, given history of events, that Mr. Mann has been waiting for quite a while to feel comfortable enough to pass the baton along. He remains on the board of directors so whatever happens he will still be part of it, but I have to say that I find it prudent on Mannkind's and Al's side to take this step at this point and time.

A few thoughts:
1. They would have known this mgt transition is coming. If so, they would have signed Hakan up to speak originally, or changed speakers earlier. If they do a speaker swap now, this was a sudden change in transition plan on their part. Otherwise, the intent was to keep AM there.
2. Unlikely he says exactly the same thing as last time - at minimum, during Q&A they will be asked about the two announcements for the past week.
3. It is possible SNY would join him on stage. But since SNY went first and didn't allude to more details coming - launch details seem unlikely to me.
Under normal circumstances, to me, the setup suggests that something will be announced. Launch would be great!
But then again, this is MNKD - so expect the unexpected - as in, possibly nothing.

I for one am not expecting too much other than a "State of the Nation" look back if you will... There is the outside chance we will get a Technosphere update and that is more likely than anything concrete on Afrezza imho.
Sanofi now has the reins of Afrezza so I do not expect much info for Afrezza to come out from mannkind moving forward from here on out except for those areas in which Mnkd has a direct relationship such as milestones hit and Mannkind's own revenues from Afrezza. But most everything else such as Launch specifics, EU and Japan filing/approvals, Sales figures etc I expect to come from Sanofi.
Seems to me we have all been focused on Afrezza at the moment (and rightly so) but with Al Mann stepping down I think it is the official acknowledgement of the Afrezza handoff to Sanofi (even though they have a joint marketing committee that mnkd sits on) and with this Mannkind is now positioned to "pivot" towards Technosphere and whatever else they may be working on.
Unless there is an extraordinary negative event of some kind Launch is a given and seems to be on schedule... So while everyone is focused on the launch I am curious to know what is next?
