Dosing has been the biggest challenge. I was very reluctant at first, only taking 4u at a time. I now take 12-16u regularly with a meal. On Mother’s Day, I took my wife to brunch at Shooter’s in Ft Lauderdale where my son is the Chef de Cuisine (shameful plug), and over a three hour+ meal I took 24u. When I got home my BG still 165 so I took another 8u and by morning I was at 122. I find I get the best results if I take Afrezza after my meal and in this case during the meal. I had three servings and a trip to the dessert bar. Without Afrezza, I would have been in the mid 200’s and perhaps in the 300’s woke up in the morning with 175 or better.
Sam afrezzauser takes the first dose between starting of the meal to 15 min and then a follow up dose like after 1.5 to 2 hours if the glucose levels are on the rise. You can talk to him on twitter.. Meet Sam for Lunch tomorrow

Glad to see you back. I asked Spiro the same question. Can you provide before and after results for good cholesterol (HDL), bad cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides, weight and blood pressure? It looks like your weight has improved. If these improve on Afrezza it will help open up use for prediabetics as well. Before / After HDL 41 / 32 LDL 128 / 110 Triglycerides 125 / 126 Total 194 / 167 all # better except for HDL Weight 274 / 260 - I'm 6'1" Off Benicar for blood pressure since March visit, this visit 118/78
Hard to tell about the HDL since the total and bad cholesterol dropped too. The total to HDL ratio is slightly worse. Triglycerides aren't bad. You stopped Actos too, right? That might lower your HDL.

Posted this last nights on Twitter;
"Its been awhile. Last blood test a1c down to 6.1 and no longer take Actos and Metformin, only #Afrezza.
Best part, I've lost 22lbs since I started #Afrezza in March."
Frankly, I was disappointed my A1c didn't go lower than 6.1. Spiro , I'm Jealous. Next scheduled test is 1st week in November.

I'm far from an expert, but you could probably raise your HDL with a little daily exercise and a daily glass of red wine (though keep total alcohol intake very modest). Good numbers!

Nice job Papi! A Glass of red wine is equivalent to 1 hour at the gym, so I try to go for at least 2-3 hours a day. Just an FYI.

Importantly, your blood pressure is perfect, and you got off a medication. You have lost weight. 14 pounds. Better blood pressure, your heart is not working as hard to get fluids distributed. Are you feeling good? The out of pocket expense, ouch. added: I see your weight is still dropping. "Weight 260 / 251 - I'm 6'1"

Fish oil is good for HDL too. Looks like you're on the path to a long and healthy life.

papi,
Spiro was only 6.2 after 3 month's, your 6.1 blew him away. HDL takes time to move. Spiro went from 37 to 39. Papi you had great numbers, congrats. Spiro needs to buy some of that Red wine.
Spiro here, Papi maybe we are dreaming and these great numbers aren't real. What else could explain the lack of new scripts for this incredible new diabetes treatment?

Spiro, Papi's weight has gone from 274 pds to 251 pds. 23 pounds weight loss in 5 months.
Did you experience weight loss early in the course?
