I'm on Afrezza Day 15 and I wanted to share some interesting data. Keeping a log book for your endocrinologist opened my eyes after initially thinking the data was an anomaly. I am a type II diabetic with a previous A1C of 7.6 (171 BG). Date 2 hr BG Carbs 5/19 86 100 5/20 98 50 5/21 95 25 5/22 111 40 5/23 107 30 5/24 100 60 5/26 121 40 5/27 118 121
First 5 days on Afrezza
Date 2 hr BG Carbs 5/14 156 ? (didn't make note, must have been distracted by Stanley Cup playoffs) 5/15 164 40 5/16 123 30 5/17 169 80 5/18 134 100 All doses were ONLY one 4U cartridge no matter how many carbohydrates were consumed. They were all post dinner readings. For me personally, the data shows that Afrezza kicked in on Day 6.

Thanks, I have a relative who has about the same HgA1C. As for myself, I am genetically pre-disposed for diabetes. I exercise regularly but do not watch my diet since my weight is ok. However, my fasting glucose is consistently over 100 or there about, yet my HgA1C is only 5.6.

Since your fasting is somewhat high, you keep a tight window during the day. Good luck at staying at 5.6.

NC, thanks for sharing, are you fasting numbers dropping more? Spiro here Hi Spiro, I may have a few ideas to discuss with my endo on Monday. I cannot get over the dinner numbers. I thought with 120 carbs, Afrezza 4U would throw in the towel. Thanks!

NC, for sure 100 carbs would have blown me away big time. Something good is going on with your 2nd phase insulin.

How do I do that? the HgA1C has been at 5.6 for many, many moons. I am a fitness fanatic and eat a lot of veggie but I also eat a lot of carb since I can't exercise on an empty fuel tank. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

What I mean to say is your body adjusts well in order to stay at 5.6 w/high fasting numbers. You had mentioned vegetables and also high carbs. Since you separated out the two, I assume the vegetables are on the lower end of the glycemic index? From what I understand, protein may contribute a substantial amount of energy needs during exercise as well as carbohydrates. Protein could offset somewhat your high carb intake since it is so filling. Your fitness regiment allows your body to utilize insulin more effectively thus, playing a major role in preventing you from crossing over into pre-diabetic territory. I know when I exercise, my glucose numbers drop very quickly. Unfortunately, I travel for business and don't exercise very much on the road. My inefficient cell usage of phase 1 insulin is what's hurting my A1C thus the reason for Afrezza. I'm not a doctor or nutritionist but I hope I added a little something here. Actually, I should have left out the doctor part since there are few nutrition courses in college or med school. Of course, that's not their fault.

I would expect that an endo would take him off any Sulfonarea.

Thanks for the kind comment. It's amazing how the values have a positive trend every day. As also investors, it's great knowing that we're supporting a fine and effective medicine.

And most diabetics do not even know about the benefits of Afrezza! Wait until they find out.....
