The part of this thread that scared me is the idea of MM's being involved...... If they have the ability to short and never cover,,,, that is frightening.....

MM have extended time to settle but they don't need to locate first. I'm sure this is abused and they're all sleeping together anyway. Good read on subject and if you dig far enough you'll see MNKD was victim to this manipulation by options MM optionsXpress (first couple prosecuted cases linked)... www.sec.gov/investor/pubs/regsho.htm

I have been comparing the data from the daily REG SHO and daily volume To be honest I have no idea what the fields mean so I'm likely missing something. However I find it strange that reg sho total volume averages about 48% of daily transactions for MTD. Thoughts appreciated.

With all the constant manipulation going on in MNKD and other stocks, it is unlikely that there are enough cops around to enforce the rules. Its like trying to enforce neighborhood stop signs. Many times drivers do not make a complete stop or disregard the stop sign altogether. It is only when upset neighbors badger the police department that they'll send out a cop to ticket drivers. That is why it is necessary for MNKD to take action with its lawyers. Also, there is a link we as investors can alert the SEC of RegSho abuses www.sec.gov/complaint/tipscomplaint.shtmllink . Maybe if enough of us regularly alerted the SEC of the naked short selling of MNKD, they might take a look. I intend to email the first post in this thread. Let's all join in and see what happen. trend

The part of this thread that scared me is the idea of MM's being involved...... If they have the ability to short and never cover,,,, that is frightening..... Agreed. The playing field is not level, despite what short traders assert about the necessary counterbalancing of shorting to control misleading pumping by unscrupulous promoters, unethical companies, and paid long shills. One immediate change I would make would be the circuit-breaker. I'd place it at an intraday level of 5%; which I would argue would help reduce extreme swings by the market in general. But whatever rules are in place, it will not matter unless the SEC does its job. Certainly, where there are rules to benefit the public-at-large, there will always be people who believe they are smarter than the average bear and are therefore entitled to be exempt from said rules and have no moral or ethical qualms about cheating to beat the system. The entire industry needs a thorough scrubbing; but it is unlikely to happen as long as there is a revolving door between the SEC and Wall Street. Whenever there is a hint of criticism, it seems, the whining from Wall Street is deafening, which leads one to believe that the industry knows very well it has significant vulnerabilities. I think it (the industry) also has an attitude that retail investors are unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

Those 50,000 $10 puts will expire in the money today. That means 5,000,000 shares will be delivered to somebody (Jason Karp ?). I am expecting higher than normal volume next week as MM scramble to settle that trade. Let's see how it plays out this month. Anyone have insight into this?

They shorted 5 mil shares when they created the arbitrage so it is zero sum, ergo no impact on SP. where the magical 5 mil shares come from, I have no idea. All part of their game

All part of their game 5 million new shares were dumped on the open market and need to be returned in the next 3 days. I'm sure they have ways of delaying that by creating lots of artificial volume and extending the 3 days with every new fake transaction but the shares do ultimately need to be "disappeared".

I believe they get 6 days if acting in a MM capacity...

I am think that building a script on something like load runner (performance testing tool) and leaving it running over the weekend generating complaints might get some attention. Nothing like 5 million emails to grab your attention on Monday morning.
Not that i am going to do that and announce it on a public forum, but wouldn't it be funny...
