Great news, I think. Looks like those claiming the company would be screwed because they couldn't pay for the soon to be debt are wrong yet again.

Great news??? Are you serious. They are now issuing more shares to handle this debt issue. This is not good news. They may end up selling the company to sny but at a much lower price.

I didn't see the issuing of shares, so yeah you are (edit) partially right. The price of those shares will be determined in the future which could actually be not such a bad thing if the stock price is much higher. Time will tell.

$56M is small when compared to $2B in Market value. This is a small benign dilution.

I have a couple questions on this; I'll probably call Matt later today when I free up (unless it is cleared up prior). So $100m of principal is changed to $27.7M of principal...plus stock worth 56.9M of stock (as there were 9M of short shares already outstanding, there is no "dilution" the argument will be). So....what happens to the other 15.4M of principal? Also, I assume the 9M of short shares will be "recalled"....but then cancelled because of the 10M+ shares to be issued because of the above...not that the phantom 9M shares will remain outstanding (or unissued or whatever terminology is used). Happy to hear thoughts. investors.mannkindcorp.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=792209investors.mannkindcorp.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=924457

Do you know what the shorts will do to our stock. They will bring this right back to the 3.50 level over the next couple of weeks. This is no small issue. If sales do not increase over the next 6 months this will be a $2 stock sorry to say. I have been long in this for years but I am tired of hearing how each misstep by management is a positive.
Maybe we were all just hoodwinked by Al all these years.

IMO you guys are jumping to conclusions . The calculation is based from Today ( July 29,2015 ) to Aug 15,2015 , for the stock to note exchange . There is a lot of potential news in the next few weeks , from both SNY and MNKD . I would also like to understand what will happen with the 9 million shares that are being lent out by boa , under the original terms of the notes .

MNKD has given itself 3 years to resolve this issue once and for all. At that time they will have more than enough cash assets to eliminate this debt. Why are you guys unhappy ? They bought time to resolve this at a future point of being flush with cash. It's good news indeed.

Maybe we were all just hoodwinked by Al all these years. I don't see how. There is nothing about issuing 57M in stock that should tank the pps to that extent. My guess is that shorts themselves will be buying with both hands if longs react so violently negative to such a relatively small dilution.

I am hoping there is a good reason for the announcement today . SNY reports tomorrow and MNKD will certainly report 2 qty and updates before August 15,2015

Maybe we were all just hoodwinked by Al all these years. I appreciate your frustration but I think we all need a bit of time to reread and digest everything. Matt emphatically said no dilution so perhaps the 9mm BOA shares come back this fall. Hoodwinked by Al? Not his style. Name one other company he has founded where investors were hoodwinked?

Petech - if you do reach Matt, I would be curious as well as the status of the 9 million borrowed shares; also, the language in the 8-k indicates that the stock issued in exchange for debt seems to be "unregistered" shares - is that standard language or is this restricted stock. I for one, do not mind the stock exchange for shares; it indicates a bullish mindset on the note holders, and the $56 million involved is very similar to the $50 million ATM that was always in play; however, I like this approach since it keeps short sellers from direct acquisition of the shares to cover their arses.

OK I will give you one example of being hoodwinked by Al. He stated that Alfreeza will be the largest selling drug in history. In the first 6 months it is not shaping up to be even close.
