Saw a thing on seeking alpha for teva dropping a partnership for inhalation powder jan 1. Can't link or anything right now but If you search teva it's in the news. didnt read further than the headline either. Weird coincidence

Now if their whole diabetes unit is hurting , the chips are down, if their leader takes defence rather than offence I'm thinking he may focus on the things that they produce themselves. This might explain the TASE listing, especially if it goes get an extra $100M of cash by listing there (if new stock is issued to be be bought up by TASE index funds e.g. TASE75 etc) . This would give MNKD a cushion whilst it settles on a new sales / marketing strategy in 2016. The whole diabetes unit is hurting because direct competition to Lantus. Toujeo, no matter how good it is, was never going to plug the whole, regardless of how much hope Sanofi had put on it. They have focused on it, because they had to minimize the immediate negative effects of Lantus increased competition, but really when you look at it closely, the one product that could give Sanofi an edge in the diabetes market is Afrezza. Regarding listing on the TASE in preparation for Sanofi abandoning the project, this makes little sense. Unless MNKD has a very strong alternative plan, there is no way they would find a lot of buyers, institutional or otherwise, if Sanofi is going away. As a matter of fact the double listing makes a lot more sense if what they expect is a new influx of buyers because of good news. Good news will bring the buyers and the double listing would facilitate access to MNKD shares. In any case we will find out more very soon, but, called me delusional if you will, I am still having a very hard time accepting that Sanofi would let go of a drug that they must know could become huge given the right amount of time and push. |
