phl17.com/2015/11/06/afrezza-and-helping-treat-diabetes/Afrezza and Diabetes POSTED 8:10 AM, NOVEMBER 6, 2015, BY EYEOPENERPHL17, UPDATED AT 08:15AM, NOVEMBER 6, 2015 Elissa Violino (CDE): Afrezza is the only inhaled insulin. It's a rapid acting insulin, so it's administered at the beginning of a meal to control blood sugar spikes after the meal. Jason: So how does it work? Tell us about that. Elissa: It's breathed in through your mouth, so through your lungs. And it peaks within 12 to 15 minutes to help control blood sugars after the meal. It's important for the audience to know that it's not right for everyone, with chronic lung disease or asthma or copd, or if you smoke, or recently stopped smoking or for children under the age of 18. Jason: Ok so we're talking about inhaled insulin. People with diabetes may want to know more. What can you tell them? Elissa: Go to Afrezza.com. You can check out that website. Its also important to talk to your healthcare professional. This is by prescription only, so it's important to have that discussion with your healthcare professional as well. Jason: So many people have diabetes these days. Any tips for dealing with it, maintaining it. Elissa: Absolutely...having diabetes is important to know, and knowledge is your key. So healthy eating, physical activity, and taking your diabetes medication everyday, really helps to manage your blood sugar. Jason: When diabetes gets bad, it gets really bad. Talk about that. Elissa. Check at home the glucometer, and bring it to your appointment. Jason: Once again give us that website. Elissa: Afreszza.com. Check it out when you have time.

It would be nice if she/they spelled the product website. How many viewers will guess the spelling of afrezza?

It would be nice if she/they spelled the product website. How many viewers will guess the spelling of afrezza? This is a "Video News Release" (VNR) sent out by a PR firm hired by Sanofi. I used to be in the TV news business and using this kind of handout "interview" is frowned upon by legit news people...it's the equivalent of a newspaper printing a press release without changing a word or putting anything in context. As a former newsguy I hate to see this, but as a MannKind investor I'm glad Sanofi is doing it. As for giving the spelling of Afrezza, that might be going a little too far in what is masquerading as a "news" story.

In video these days it's pretty easy to just add www.Afrezza.com as an overlay to the video and could be done in seconds before it's aired. I assume they deemed it wasn't necessary. If you think about it anyone with a computer likely knows how to do a basic google search and anything regarding inhaled insulin would bring up Afrezza as well as any close spelling to it. Also for those without internet access they would hopefully approach their Dr. about it and "hopefully" said Dr. would be able to talk with patient about it.

all they need to know is AFR insulin.. I think 99% can figure that from the name Afrezza.. doesn't matter if they think it's z's or s's.

From my pharma days, I know a little bit about the naming on new meds, there are FDA rules. For example, it must be different enough than other names among other things. So, you end up with a lot of very long and difficult medication names. I though Afrezza was very simple and elegant but you make a good point. I have seen "frez" on social media, and "afrez" might have been good too, almost interchangeable. It's a crazy business. Afrezza, being natural insulin, is probably the most straightforward new medicine that I've seen in the past 30 years, aside from other natural products that are wonderful and do not now, nor maybe ever will, have synthetic equivalents.

Any news is good news! Consider how many of you could tell the story more adequately. It's gonna happen. First a little dribble.

This board could get by with a little less high school humor, IMHO. Thank you.

Should be easy to track her down in NY and tell her you comment on saying the full name

While I'm happy that Sanofi is trying to build more awareness of Afrezza, this promo video is rather bland and does not speak to the benefits of Afrezza other than that it's inhaled. And on that front - a little enthusiasm, please, that it doesn't have to be injected?! I'm sure this was lawyered to death before it was released and the label places restrictions on what is said, but let's show a little enthusiasm. Sanofi, please get your marketing act together.

On the other hand, I'm often put off when a supposed expert shows too much enthusiasm for a product, making it too obvious that the expert is a paid shill.

Agreed. I think the add sucks but works for exactly the reason you describe. Not that I am not rapidly loosing faith in this whole Sanofi deal though...

Not that I am not rapidly loosing faith in this whole Sanofi deal though...Since that sanofi presentation friday, it would seem by your posts you are thoroughly disgusted. Wonder what the mood actually is in Danbury? Gotta admit, its been a difficult hold
