with HSP Health Savings Plan (HSP) Preventive Therapy Drug List Keeping in good health depends on taking and finishing your preventive medications just as your doctor prescribed. Your benefit plan wants to make this as easy and affordable for you as possible. That’s why you are not required to meet a deductible for preventive prescriptions. Instead, your prescription benefits are paid right away for all medications on the CVS/caremark preventive drug list. You’ll pay 20% of the cost of most preventive medications and there will be no cost to you for generic medicines on this list. This no-deductible preventive drug list not only saves you money but is an important step in preventing more serious health issues in the future. www.caremark.com/portal/asset/hsp_preventive_dl.pdf

also listed as preventative by Harvard Pilgrim www.harvardpilgrim.org/pls/ext/f?p=768:28:1330514710430233Premium Formulary Preventive Drug List If you're enrolled in an HSA plan, it may include prescription drug coverage featuring the Preventive Drug Benefit, which provides coverage for medications to help prevent chronic conditions and illnesses. The Preventive Drug Benefit enables you to access many covered preventive drugs that are not subject to your plan deductible. That lowers your cost-sharing, as you won’t have to satisfy your deductible before receiving coverage. Below is a list of the most commonly prescribed drugs to help prevent chronic conditions and illnesses. Over-the-counter products are not included in this benefit and limitations and restrictions may apply. mnholdem looks like the plan coverage might be increasing soon?

Just conjecture on my part - but Sanofi does have those clamp study results, and the clinical trial dated submitted to the FDA did show reduced hypos at a statistically significant level if I'm not mistaken.

Wow,,,,, now this makes sense to me. I haven't updated my personal situation recently regarding my wife. To refresh, I explained what we had to go thru to get an endo on board to let her be his first patient on Afrezza, and how no one, ins co, CVS, NO ONE had ever heard of it. I was preping my wife for the biggest battle yet, getting her ins to cover it.... WELL,,, she called me Friday afternoon and said it was done! $80 for 3 month supply. She picked it up last night. She's on a HSP!! ?

The way it worked was 'use it or lose it' so you calculate how much you'll need the following year, get deductions for that. Excess could be rolled over into following years. Good deal, not just for drugs, but also for dentist, glasses...

Spot on. Sanofi dropping price without any data is not enough to get Caremark to list it as a preventive medicine.

Cost and prior authorization at least in these cases is no longer an issue. Makes it an easier (not easy) sell with the cost and coverage issues off the table. There is likely more of this type of thing happening. Will be interesting to see when and how much week to week Symphony NRx data and TRx is impacted.

Do you notice the double-asterisk behind the injectables?
LANTUS** LEVEMIR** NOVOLIN** NOVOLOG** TOUJEO SOLOSTAR** --- ** Insulin product; covered at 100%.
Lantus, Levemir and Toujeo are basals, but Novolin is human insulin and Novolog is a Rapid-Acting Analog insulin, both of which directly compete against Afrezza and are getting better coverage by CVS.
Still, I think that inclusion on this list is a step forward for Afrezza.
Humalin and Humalog apparently didn't make the Preventative Drug list.

Do you notice the double-asterisk behind the injectables? It's referencing a footnote that reads: ** Insulin product; covered at 100%. Afrezza's competition (RAA insulin with **) are getting better coverage by CVS. Still, I think that inclusion on this list is a step forward for Afrezza. If the rumor about better pricing is true as published this week, maybe we'll get a double star too And if Afrezza gets the superior status as prandial a triple star???
