Great user reviews! Maybe MNKD management should read those reviews before they speak at next week's conference.

That WAS a good read! Makes me want to scream from the roof tops what SNY did / didn't do and not let them get away with it.

Wow facts! Did you read all the responses? Good read! Yes I did. I think it shed a lot of light on the issues facing the adoption of Afrezza, from marketing support, to physician attitudes, and patient openness to change to name a few.

Great stuff. We have a winner. We will get a new life SHORTLY. Love the passion of the users especially Sam's. I hope there is a job in his future with who ever owns or is selling Afrezza.

I see two issues there. First, practically all of the posts are from the same people who have been posting there about afrezza since it was introduced. Since that is a very active forum with many participants, the overall lack of concern over afrezza's possible disappearance is forboding. There simply appears to be a general lack of interest by diabetics in an inhaled insulin. Second, from what "newbies" there were came comments such as:
1. Asked doc about afrezza and, "She was supportive but I've had decent results lately and was like "meh, why change anything" as it would require appointments and all of that."
2. "I truly believe that it would be difficult to convince insurance that I have a real need for it. My A1c's are good and due to my CGM, I have had no recent lows that need assistance...But right now my insurance pays for a pump and supplies, Lantus when needed, a meter and strips, and a CGM and supplies. Unfortunately they are not set up to deal whereby I could promise to quit my pump if Afrezza worked well...Also, I am a year and 3 months away from Medicare. I am saving my T1 Medicare advocacy for CGM coverage and will leave the Afrezza battle to the rest of you."
3. "It's mostly having to get the lung test done and then go back for another appointment. And they offered to squeeze the test into an appointment but the problem was mostly me. I have may weird insulin habits pregaming, temp boluses,IV shots, etc. that I don't have a huge need for something that works really fast to eat whatever."
People complain about SNY's handling of afrezza's promotion, but these are probably typical of the problems encountered. They are not easy problems to solve.

I don't quite agree with your characterization of the discussion, particularly with your cherrypicking of the contents, but it's midnight where I am so I'll revisit tomorrow some time.

Interesting post to my eyes.
"Frankly I think afrezza has the potential to disrupt the sales of a lot more than apidra. I think it has the potential to completely destroy the insulin pump market, as well as all other bolus insulins, and a large portion of the blood glucose monitoring market, and pretty much turn the entire diabetes care industry (billions if not hundreds of billions of dollars worldwide) pretty much completely upside down--- so yeah I do certainly question the honorable intentions of all of its competitors.
Interestingly, up here in rural Alaska, there was a swarm of sanofi reps touting afrezza for a week or two and then nothing.... I did see exactly one magazine advertisement while sitting in the waiting room at the dentist office----"

The more I read tudiabetes; I realize many Diabetics on that board think afrezza is just another insulin.
The users talk about how much their quality of life has improved. I did not see a technical discussion on why Afrezza - technosphere insulin, improves quality of life. oh well.

Make it cheap enough and the insurance/payers will make them use afrezza
$50 per box if no insurance and if insurance - tier 2 with no co pay . And insurance companies will do all the work for Mannkind

And insurance companies will do all the work for Mannkind There is no guarantee that lower pricing will move insurance to cover Afrezza. And let's say it does, the other issue is getting Doctors comfortable enough to prescribe it. Many on here seem to think the solution is very simple. It's not. Mannkind needs to find someone to pick up the marketing and sales. Insurance and docs acceptance won't matter if a competent partner to market and sell isn't found.

Atleast the ones that are in the know and are getting discouraged by insurance will start in Afrezza. It only takes 1 patient of a doc for the doc to get on board. We have lots of obstacles you say. Let's get rid of the ones that is Mannkind hand. There are many others discouraged by insurance coverage and many that didnt fill cos insurance didnt cover. Let them get on Afrezza

Don't you think at that price there are diabetics around the world that can buy themselves from sites like international pharmacy with out even Mannkind going through the regulatory process since it's mostly patients that are requesting Afrezza on social media from other countries
