Abstract:
Methods and compositions for treating pain are disclosed. The compositions are based on dry powders comprising microparticles of diketopiperazines and an analgesic active agent. The analgesic in the compositions comprises one or more peptide analgesics or derivatives thereof, which are administered to a subject using a pulmonary inhalation drug delivery system comprising a dry powder inhaler and the analgesic composition. The present compositions produce fewer side effects associated with current opioid therapy.

I am waiting for the partnership announcement. from the jpm healthcare conference, Matt: Technosphere pipeline is something that's important to us. It’s going to be important from a licensing standpoint. This is probably not huge upfront dollars, but I think and in fact I think, if that were very close to when I or I think my predecessor promised me we have in this quarter. I actually thought we have one today. That didn’t happen, but I think it will happen soon.

Torrie Pines is a research institute and while they may share in the patent with MannKind they, too, must partner with pharmaceutical companies for FDA trials, marketing & distribution of the API they invent & develop. I haven't refreshed my intel since last year, but I think it's Cara Pharmaceuticals who partnered and is currently developing Torrie Pines' opoids.
