Unfortunately, the word got passed on Stock Twits before released to public. LA Times just released article two minutes ago. This is one of those times that is unfortunate to call it right. He did work up til the last minute. And based on his life story, it does not surprise me a single bit. Sorry to be bearer of some very sad news. Thank you Old Mann for all that you have contributed. www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-alfred-mann-obit-20160226-story.html

Alfred Mann made an incredible contribution to the world and did what he loved right to the end. One can't ask for more than that. My condolences to his family and all who knew him.

Rest in Peace Al! It is a shame he will not get to see the fruits of his labor with Afrezza. Great man who contributed so much to our society... THANK YOU

Thanks for posting. Sad news, but of course not unexpected, esp after recent board resignations and long silence. Now, how is this likely to play out in terms of his stake in the Company? (I don't even want to know what it's going to do to share price...)

Some may have missed the comment at the bottom of the article ... it reads:
Matt Pfeffer:
Al was a truly great man who will be missed by all, but by me in particular. I am honored to have been able to call him my friend, as well as my mentor and my inspiration. His untimely passing only makes me more determined to honor his legacy by working tirelessly to make MannKind Corporation, and its revolutionary first product, Afrezza, the tremendous success he always believed it would be. Al helped so many, not only with his amazing and revolutionary advances in health care, but particularly through his many philanthropic efforts. There will never be another like him. He will never be forgotten.

I am trying to find the right words to express what I am feeling. I am so sad. What a loss to the world. Thank you Al Mann for all of the great work you have contributed to the fight against diabetes along with so much more. I was very worried this might happen as we heard less and less from him at conferences and meetings. Wow what a loss. There is something else I am feeling as well ... a fiery gritty determination to see Afrezza and Technosphere succeed. I am outraged that so much interference, roadblocks and obstacles were placed in front of Al's dream. I am angry. Seething is a better term. And you know what, I think Matt Pfeffer feels the same way. He worked very closely with Mr. Mann. So by God, Mannkind staff, Mannkind Board and Mannkind investors, stand firm, see straight and forge ahead in Al's memory.

It's has Matt P's name. Didn't see it til just now. Because Gynn19 had posted on ST the death news that came from a family friend, I started watching the news, because my gut had been telling me this was coming since his resignation, so felt it was true. I caught the first thing, LA Times literally 2 minutes after it posted. My guess is that Matt had not posted his comment yet. Matt, if you are reading- truly best wishes to you.
