TDAmeritrade raised the margin ratio on mannkind today for me by 10%. They said that because of the amount of MNKD I have in my portfolio is less than 50% that I fell into the minimum increase. How did this affect me? I started out the day with zero margin and then climbing to -$58,000.00. Huge to me. I'm not liquid. This is more shaking the tree (and belief) all the while MNKD was up close to 6% today.
I asked why they determined the stock was more volatile to a loss as it's % of gain increases as does it's volume and was told.... the Department "upstairs" considered it was prudent thing to do. I asked who got paid off cause there are fortunes at stake? The guy replied that they are ethical and no one got paid off. I asked tongue in cheek; knowing that when MNKD passes the FDA those who make Billions in Insulin are not going to go quietly.
This feels like that old gold mining town called Deadwood. I got in relatively late with my own personal mandate to hold on as long as possible. Wasn't happy to sell my Sprint calls that were way up today... practically no volume in 6 strike / may 15 expiration. Because I have been buying these it's easy to see how the value is constantly guarded and kept down as best they can. I don't trade. I don't buy puts. I don't invest in commodity. I buy what I believe in... and the more I investigate the harder I hold on.
Best to all investors

I sent the following questions to Etrade today. Suggest you folks do the same and post here as you get answers.
"What is the current margin requirement for MNKD? When was it last reviewed? When was it last changed? Is it scheduled for review within next 30 days?"

Show's how desperate the are. I hold strong.

Here is etrade's response: The requirement on MNKD is currently 100%. Our risk department does not announce whenever they review a position for possible change in margin rate and it is hard to say when or if our risk department will consider lowering the requirement in the future.
