from the home page www.mannkindcorp.com Update on Medicare/Medicaid Coverage We recently learned that there was a lapse in Medicare and Medicaid coverage for Afrezza as a result of the transition to MannKind’s NDC codes. This issue impacted prescriptions last week and is anticipated to affect reported prescription counts only for the month of August. If you are on Medicare or Medicaid and having trouble filling your prescription for Afrezza, please contact MannKind Cares at 844-323-7399 (1-844-3Afrezza) for an interim solution. We expect that patients will not have any problem filling or refilling their Medicare or Medicaid prescription for Afrezza starting September 1, 2016. We apologize for this inconvenience.

I'm pleased that managment has communicated the Medicare/Medicaid issue.
1. helps to explain the lower renewals last week. 2. reassures me that Mike & team are watching details like hawks. 3. in general appreciate the continued candor

"We recently learned that there was a lapse in Medicare and Medicaid coverage for Afrezza as a result of the transition to MannKind’s NDC codes." Incredibly typical bureaucratic snafu; hopefully they will have things squared away in a couple of weeks. As for script counts, well, at least it's only going to affect the older Afrezza candidates. Thanks for posting.

The ongoing communication has been great. Management seems to know what they are doing. If the script count gains traction, look out.

Perhaps just a nasty thought. Does California Medicaid cover Afrezza? Perhaps Jan's Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan in California could be shamed for not covering Afrezza. <--- am not above using shame.

Medicaid goes state by state - so 50 different plans. FYI to all: I will be posting that information in the Formulary Trackers forum, starting in early September.
The channels that will be tracked & posted for formularies that cover Afrezza will be:
- Commercial (currently being tracked)
- Medicare
- State Medicaid
- Health Exchange
- Managed Medicaid

Or had even heard of it as of yet.

Not exactly true. Afrezza is listed with a PA Code "G" for which the following notation applies:
PA code "G" = PA required for Non Preferred drugs OR drugs not meeting clinical criteria (FQD, STEP) OR drugs in Clinical Drug Review Program, the Brand Less than Generic Program or the Mandatory Generic Program
Also, the NDC codes on that report list Sanofi as the labeler.
