I recently visited the Find a Doctor page on the Afrezza.com site for my home state of MA. I noticed there are new designations added to some of the doctors listed. There is a " validated referral on site" and "spirometry testing on site" added. Some of the doctors listed are cardiologists and pulmonary disease doctors. Not sure, but I assume they are listed because they will perform the spirometry testing?

Would be interesting to get a full count of the "validated referral on site" doctors as those are likely the ones that have at least one patient on Afrezza.

"Castagna: We have done research in this area and have created an offering with a company called MedGraphics who will sell a doctor’s office a spirometry machine for under $400. We know 1/3 of our targets have one already, 1/3 have a referral source that exists and the last 1/3 we are working on."
I take it that the doc finder shows who has spirometry testing or who they can confirm will or has referred.

My endo friend has over 20 pts on afrezza and not on "validated referral available" list. He also has a spirometry test and not on that list either...Hmm?

Very interesting... i guess this new feature is not accurate yet. Your friend should definitely be listed for both given he's probably one of the top prescribers in the country currently.

Hey MNKD, maybe update the site to allow "suggested edits/additions" to allow for information to be submitted via the website (think Yelp, Wiki, etc.), verified and then made public. Might be efficient way of collecting and updating this information.

I wonder what puts you on the list and what keeps you off? And I wonder who is making this list? I know 5 people in CA on Afrezza and none of their doctors are on the list.

If you think about it, it's probably docs that the reps feel are adequately trained or docs that have directly inquired about Afrezza. There's probably some sort of direct connection linking MNKD to those doctors.
It would be foolish to have a "suggest Dr" feature for the website. Any 12 year old kid could prank the system or any uneducated patient that thinks their doctor is aware/willing to prescribe only to find out that once someone uses that feature, makes an appointment, and finds out the doctor won't prescribe Afrezza- it ruins the integrity of the system. They have to keep it strictly to those who they are confident are educated on how to use and will prescribe Afrezza. Seems to me the only way they can guarantee that is by having a rep ask a doc if they would allow them to add them to a prescribing list.
Also, there would be no way to verify any submissions. Do you expect someone from MNKD to spend their days hunting docs down and asking them if they prescribe Afrezza? Do you think docs would appreciate those sorts of phone calls?

Maybe the patients should ask their Drs if they want to be on the list (free advertising). Then contact Mike C. or Mannkind Cares and ask how to get their Dr added to the list.

You're right they should, but you would think the reps would know. I told Dr.Combs to hurry up and write a script because then he'll get to be on the list of early prescribers. And he'll be on the ground floor:-)). He seemed to really like that:-)

Would love to know if / when things take off in your neck of the woods.

My friend who gave the presentation is in touch with both him and Dr. Raman. So when I hear I'll let you know:-)

He seemed to really like that:-) Lets not forget that there are only about 60 reps, their territories don't include many parts of the U.S., and many docs refuse to talk to reps. We shouldn't assume that every doctor has a Mannkind rep who's familiar with his or her practice.
