He said its clinical benefits to type 1 diabetics were not addressed by Sanofi.
“Being needle phobic is not a good enough reason to change your meds,” Castagne says. “But, the real story is that people have been taking insulin the same way for years and years and this is a completely different, and better drug, than [injectable] insulin. It’s a new paradigm.”
They may have spelled Mike's name incorrectly, but then make up for the misspelling by publishing excellent remarks by Mike (and Matt). Laura Kronen was also interviewed for this piece and she is quoted praising Afrezza. |

So he know what he is talking about. Alex O’Meara Alex was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 36 years ago. Since then he has run six marathons – the first when we was 15 – and the latest a few years ago. In 2006 Alex underwent islet cell transplant and was, for some time, insulin independent. He now lives in Southeastern Arizona where he is working on a novel, teaching college English, pursuing a Master’s degree, and training to run his first 50 mile race. |

For all the people that were spouting Matt not calling out SNY for doing a terrible job (mostly YMB posters) Matt did exactly what he should have... kept quiet until he got the money/ loan forgiveness and Los Angeles facility.. Now he can say what he's been keeping close to the vest. Matt you did an excellent job not listening to the childish antics of so called longs that wanted you to just get back at SNY and speak the truth over the last 10 months. You kept quiet and you (WE) won. Great job. For those that still think Matt isn't a good CEO... think again. Matt had patience and it was rewarded.

It was interesting to get some insight as to why a guy as talented as Mike Castagna joined MannKind when things looked very grim. See quote from article below.
"I was robbed of my father by diabetes,” Castagna says. “I never knew him. I don’t want that to happen to other people. We have a long way to go, and it will take baby steps to get there but, in the end, I want to help people with diabetes do better than they do today.”

I'm no longer able to locate the article. However, when I read it the other day, I believe it was Mike sayng that Afrezza works best on people using CGM's. This makes sense of course but I don't believe it was emphasized in the article that without a CGM it will work better than other insulins. Thus I'm wondering if the article might turn away folks without CGM's? I'm now also wondering if whether the majority of people renewing Afrezza prescriptions are those who are using CGM's? I wish I could locate the article to read it again.

Thanks manholdem but I'm no longer able to access it regardless of if I follow all of the instructions on this thread or otherwise access the site from google. Regardless of where I locate the link to the article from, when I click on it I'm taken to the Sweet Life article index. Perhaps it's an Apple iphone issue; I don't know. I was able to access it the first day but. no longer. I can also access other articles on the Sweet Life website but not this one.

I have no trouble seeing in on my computer. asweetlife.org/mannkind-markets-Afrezza-to-people-with-type-1-diabetes/damn auto correct. As someone else mentioned the article spells Afrezza with 2 "e"s and 1 "z". The odd thing is proboards doesn't recognize Afrezza as being a word so I'm not sure what entity is doing the actual autocorrecting. Maybe another conspiracy theory is in order. |
