mnkd.proboards.com/thread/673/curious-coincident-dates-reality-soonI mentioned in above thread, coincidently AdCom was on 1st April and 31st March is the last trading day for the short interest reporting period. Because of this placement of dates, we would know exactly how many short bag holders were there on 2nd April. And to my surprise, SI was crazy 63 Mil (In fact little more). Does that really mean that shorts were really really really confident that AdCom will turn MNKD down!! ? I really can't believe there was hardly any covering prior to AdCom. Although, I am very upset that most shorts could cover after AdCom at a loss of just $1-$2/share at max. I wanted to see them burnt hard :-) My guess is that post AdCom on 2nd April when ~100 million shares were traded, most of them would have adjusted their positions. In fact some of them who waited till PDUFA delay announcement, would have covered without any loss at all. this makes me FURIOUS!!

harshal, I'm going to leave this alone, but in the future, please just reply to the thread rather than starting a new thread with a link to the previous discussion.
Thanks.

They would be caught in a buyout, and perhaps a partnership announcement. Also, many of the older shorts probably did cover, and got replaced by new shorts who sold short on the morning of April 2. It makes me pretty mad, too, but you've got to realize, they play a different game than you. You try to analyze fundamentally, and rely mainly on your analysis. The shorts don't do that, they take the work of AF and others, and use the general rule that one way or other, the long position will panic from time to time, and therefore the shorts will either make a killing (if AdCom were bad for us), or not lose too badly, as you have described. The shorts also know they have people in the bag who will work for them, like AF, but we longs also have such people, who counteract the AF's of the world. I used to get heartburn over the shorts years ago (prime example, "how could anyone short a biotech that is trying to bring a great treatment into use"), but realized that we're just at opposite ends of the same gaming table. Like I posted before, I had to take my hats off to them for maneuvering this stock to $4 the day before AdCom - pretty impressive. Do they lie and exaggerate, I think so, but I think most of our eyes are open to this BS, and we go in nonetheless. For those who haven't been exposed before MNKD to this, well, this is how it works, although I will say this experience with MNKD is definitely toward the extreme end of the spectrum! But whatever the shorts did, they apparently did not work any mischief with the AdCom members!

baba ... I do rely on my own DD... I do get nervous time and again but on 31 at I had a purchase order at $4 that was filled ... My problem is that in spite of that I couldn't have a satisfaction that shorts got at least a couple of nights without sleep after they gave me at least two weeks of sleep less nights ...
Little bit of "revenge" would have been nice ..:-)
