I wonder why Mannkind would attend a gathering geared to institutional investors, private equity investors, and VCs (Venture Capitalists).

If, as you say, MNKD is trying to convince people with money that MNKD would be a good investment that seems to scream (at least to me) that dilution is imminent. Certainly some of the ones MNKD goes to are more focused, but ROTH does list medical as one of their tracks, so I wouldn't think that qualitatively there is anything new here. Maybe this is a venue known for deals getting done ? ? It should be the rapidly dropping cash position that screams dilution is imminent. No reading of tea leaves required. Even if MNKD has some deal in the works that might provide cash, they would be fools not to also be pursuing backup plans. Deals very often fall through, seemingly with higher probability when a company is financially weak (at least in my business and investing experience). |
