Discovery Life is a separate channel from Discovery. You need a high level cable plan to receive it. Not sure how many viewers is has. It fits better as all of the shows on this channel are related to the health field. It's still pretty wide reaching. "As of February 2015, approximately 46,696,000 American households (40.1% of households with television) receive Discovery Life." People interested in a reality show focused on diabetes will be able to find it and watch it... that's all that matters. Need second highest package on uverse, ps vue and directv now to get it. Not on sling tv.

I'm going to be playing Marley records all day, and this song sounds so good on vinyl.

Good news overall.
I am a bit disappointed that they have a place for adverts at the bottom of the home screen and it is just cycling through "place your ad here" notices. If MNKD is sponsoring and they just did PR to announce the show... why not put an advert for Afrezza on the home page? Yes, it may take time to build awareness and boost views of the page, but I believe it is standard that what a company pays for the adverts is linked to "views", so why would this not be done now?
Also, on their Diabetes 101 page the only mention of insulin therapy refers to injection.
On a side note to the producers: I've had my fasting BG test over 100... I'm available for a nice vacation in Montego Bay, love outdoors physical activity and will gladly eat any and all "incredibly nutritious and delicious foods". Looks fabulous, and relaxing... other than the paint job of the building, which makes my eyes itch.

Well, that would be adding about 100,000 to the number of people that now know about Afrezza.

I disagree. People these days watch the SHOWS they are specifically interested in, not the CHANNELS. If the concept of real struggles of living with Diabetes resonates with an audience they will seek out this channel and tune in when it airs. The more households it is available to, the better. Luckily these days everything is on demand and distribution for discovery shows are available on an app and their website so that people who do not watch on the cable schedule can simply watch the show online or on device. The network will need to promote the show as well. I expect several diabetes related websites and social media thought leaders will also pick up coverage.

Will cost them much less, I would assume as they are a sponsor.

Nearly half a million followers on Facebook. Not at all a negligible number. Using "social media" actually has meaning when something you posts gets in front of that number of people. Let's hope this show is a huge success.

Don't look at the subscribership (a passive metric, since channels are bundled) but the viewership. I suspect you would take it one step farther to say that dependent on the virtue of the show, it could bring in more viewers than DL's current prime time. I'd agree with that view.

In the hospital that I work at, this channel is the one that 95% of all patients have playing in their room. Ever heard of Untold Stories of the E.R. And Forensic Files? This is what nearly every TV is playing. What better network to be associated with than the one that is watched by patients while IN a hospital? Win-Win.
