www.thenational.ae/uae/health/uae-ministry-of-health-shocked-by-report-on-diabetesAlthough a year old , published in April 2016 , a reminder of the high incidence of diabetes in UAE. Link provided above . Although by far the majority are Type 2 , when you read the article you will be surprised at the high incidence in the younger population. So perhaps The UAE may start treating the young population with Affreza to prevent he long term complications and do it with inhaled insulin ,much more likely to be accepted by the young and their parents . I guess will find out soon. Here's hoping

The emphasis on the UAE health ministry targeting school children raises an interesting question. Is it possible that another country might approve Afrezza for pediatric use even if prescribing to children hasn't been approved in the U.S.?

The percentage of diabetes cases among people aged over 50 has reached more than 50 percent, they said while addressing the third Middle East Diabetic Conference in Jeddah. Dr. Yousuf Al-Turki, vice president of King Abdulaziz University, opened the conference on behalf of Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal Bin Majed in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ahwal, dean of the medical college and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Asheikh, chairman of Saudi Diabetes and Endocrine Association. Addressing the conference at Park Hyatt Hotel, Al-Asheikh said diabetes has become one of the fast spreading ailments in the Kingdom. “It has affected 25 percent of the population and 50 percent of men and women who have crossed 50,” he added. Dr. Al-Ahwal said a diabetic can be found in every house in Saudi Arabia. “According to the latest statistics issued by the Health Ministry, the number of diabetes patients will reach 4 million in 2030,” he said. The chairman of the scientific committee said the conference was aimed at enhancing public awareness about diabetes and how to control it as well as to discuss the latest development in diagnosing and treating the disease.

While middle eastern countries have a serious problem of diabetes, they have an even bigger problem with smoking. UAE is 30% smokers and for "young people" its upwards of 40%. Not only is the percentage very high, its growing higher in recent years. Rates of lung cancer are growing. Likely there is a population of ex-smokers too. Mnkd making another strategic blunder going into the middle east IMO.

Are you serious? Afrezza particles are nothing compared to smoking. In fact, most of the car exhaust that you breathe into your lungs (yes, you even breathe it through your car vents) or dust and other crud in a major city is far more harmful.

I guess my 40 year investment in Phillip Morris and Altria is responsible for this epidemic of smokers in the UAE and other middle eastern countries.

There is no reason why a smoker can not take Afrezza. they are probably smart enough to understand this and it's advantages..

I think he is implying since there are more smokers in Middle East there would be more opportunities for Fudsters to link the two. My friend who uses Afrezza smokes.

I agree it's hypocritical to worry about what Afrezza can do to lungs if you are a smoker

Show me a happy investor who doesn't believe the conspiracy theories

Ontario the province that I am from is in the process of introducing prescription coverage for anyone 24 years and under. Those 65 & over are already covered. Not restricted to a subset of listed drugs either.
Not sure what the others from BC (west coast) to Nova Scotia (east coast) are doing.
