As the results trickle in for the 1st quarter, the trend is up. Vanguard, The largest share holder as of Dec 31, 2013 added an additional 2 million shares in the 1st quarter, a 17% increase. With the reputation of a very conservative investment company, Vanguard has taken a huge stake in MNKD with over 13 million shares as of March 31. www.nasdaq.com/symbol/mnkd/institutional-holdings

Doc, what do you friends at Vanguard know, that is making them so confident? Do the think Al would have dinner with his biggest shareholder? Babaoriley may have to back off from his pessimistic optimism and turn a little more positive very soon.

Pessimistic? Moi? I was smiling this morning when I looked at the share price, that's for sure! Re Vanguard, let me drop this name - a very good friend of mine from Philly is a friend of Jack Bogle and the three of us got together for breakfast once if SF, maybe 5 years ago. Jack had to be around 80 then - unbelievably sharp, and if you only heard his voice, you'd think you were talking to a 40 year old guy. I must have sold him on MNKD back then - LOL!
Update via edit: smiling more broadly now!

Good Job Baba, Bogle should take you out to a nice dinner with all the $ that Vanguard's investment in MNKD will make them.

I'll guarantee one thing, ashiwi, Bogle would not want Vanguard investing in MNKD, he was not that kind of investor at all, far more conservative. But it's been a long time since he ran that show.
Continues to be a sweet day for MNKD and most biotechs, could really use a few more like this.
We need to get together in Vegas after approval - I need craps lessons from Spiro!! He says he'll be able to play at the $100 minimum table without sweating it after approval! I will also guarantee that Spiro has far more angles in a casino than he does in the stock market! But, then again, it's just about the same thing.

I'd expect institutional ownership to continue to rise...
But, I think the rise in stock price today was because of 05/14/14 MannKind at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Health Care Conference
I haven't been a fan of Matt Pfeffer to take over as CEO (eventually) but I've changed my mind. He hit it out of the park today with his Afrezza presentation.
He may not be Mann but he can be the MAN.

Look, I'm a Matt fan, but I think we might all be surprised how different our presentations could be with a spokesman who was also very good at speaking. Al's a bit too old, and Matt's a bit too nervous - maybe today cuz the boss was in the audience. If all goes according to what may want, a spokesman will not be important going forward.

I only retired young after teaching 7th graders for 34 years. The little son's of a bitches almost killed me. I do like casino's, but refuse to risk much money in them. But, craps is my game. I will know in a couple of months, if I will be going to Las Vegas or Siberia.

Nope, I'm not Matt. Frankly, I found Matt a bit annoying (off putting) in some existing interviews...so perhaps I went a bit overboard in my praise. But, the presentation was short, sweet, and he did a very good job answering questions. I think there was real improvements. What I comes down to is its one less thing I have to worry about with regards to Mannkinds future. Here is an example of why I was concerned m.youtube.com/watch?v=bG3SrdzXEEM

To add to Vanguard, Fidelity (the 2nd biggest institutional share holder) bought/added an additional 3.5 million shares in the 1st quarter. That's a 50% increase over their previous quarter holdings. These additional share purchases were all before the Ad Com. www.nasdaq.com/symbol/mnkd/institutional-holdingsEverything continues to look positive. You can be sure that Vanguard, Fidelity, Blackrock the 3rd largest institutional holder, (which added 465,000 shares in the 1st quarter) are not doing this blindly. They are in touch with MNKD and are out there "kicking the tires" to make sure that they are making a sound investment. Everything is starting to align up. All we need is an early Pre ADA FDA approval and partner, but the writing is on the wall.

Hello there (my first post here, hope I am doing it right)!
I have a question about the expected share price... First I would invite comments about this estimate:
Assuming - a price of 2000$ per user per year - 30% of that as eps - about 400mil shares - a factor of 20 between eps and stock price
my estimate is: - 0.15$ eps and a share price of 3$ if there are 100k users per year or (easier math): - 600$ eps and a share price of 12000$ if there would be 400mil users ;P (or any value in between depending on the number of users)
Can someone comment, how other factors might affect the short term stock price development? - pain medication use of Techosphere - short squeeze - tax exemptions - institutional interest in the stock - ...

Institutions are not buying blindly & have the knowledge / resources to do their due diligence. This is a very good sign for MNKD.

Morfu, you have posted a question that is different from the discussion material in this thread. The best way to obtain comment is to create a new thread...a new discussion topic.
HTH!
