The link suggests that Mannkind is targetting people laid off by Merck. Mannkind did the same sort of thing a year or two ago, when another pharma laid off its employees (off the top of my head, I cannot recall which pharma it was). Didn't work out all that well. You gotta remember, people being laid off are not the cream of the crop.

You gotta remember, people being laid off are not the cream of the crop. Yes, I remembered that part. That was when Mike reported that things were going well because the sales people were telling that doctors were excited. Sales did not go up after that. I am convinced that this time around, Mike has some things more effective to measure rather than the reported excitements of doctors.

They can be a lot more selective.

To be fair, I am not in pharma, and maybe there is not much difference between a good pharma rep and the best pharma rep. I dunno. But I don't see why we have to publicly advertise that we are targetting another company's cast-offs. The optics are just bad. That's just my opinion. YMMV. So instead of: "For top sales people impacted who have diabetes experience email us your resume with your home base in subject line and resume at Freedom@mannkindcorp.com." I would have preferred just: "Top sales people with diabetes experience email us your resume with your home base in subject line and resume at Freedom@mannkindcorp.com." And without the Merck story / graphic attached to it.

Like any company, good performing sales reps who are smart and motivated may lose their jobs to a rep who has been with the company longer and has larger client base. It will be up to MannKind to determine who the good ones are.

But reps have lost their job to someone with a bigger ROLODEX/ but with AFREZZA / technology we are reinventing the wheel ...maybe a little more of a level playing field for the employment picture .
