Excuse me but did Nate Stalnaker (see above) just write that he has the utmost confidence in Merck's ability to make Afrezza a success? Way to screw up a perfectly good endorsement, dude! I don't know, holdem, to me it sounds like Nate knows about the pending collaboration between Merck and MannKind. You know, just like everyone else does!

Right, and a lot of good people get laid off. Anyone who says otherwise is just talking smack. I 100% agree that a lot of very good people get laid off, not sure how many good salespeople get laid off. Sometimes it's more politics (kissing management/bosses asses) than what you bring to the table as an employee IMO. Like anything else there are probably rock star and bad sales guys looking for jobs currently. It's not always easy during interview process of accurately determining which you are speaking to.

Biggest issue with finding qualified and experienced sales reps is their income is highly dependent on commission. When we are averaging 5 rxs per sales rep (400/80) you have to believe these reps are making little to nothing. Very hard to attract any talent.

The link suggests that Mannkind is targetting people laid off by Merck. Mannkind did the same sort of thing a year or two ago, when another pharma laid off its employees (off the top of my head, I cannot recall which pharma it was). Didn't work out all that well. You gotta remember, people being laid off are not the cream of the crop. OK, so when 500-1000 are laid off its because of their performance. You have no clue how big companies work. Usually top talent are amongst those laid off, just units are eliminated. Duh!
