What will get you from 500 to 2500 is 25 clinics each prescribing 100 total scripts a week, targeted radio ads,and some billboards would get the feet in the door. It will also start building the infrastructure for change. Then its time for the TV but I sure hope I am wrong if MNKD is really going in this direction.
With not much money, I suspect 25 urgent care centers could be approached to rent-a-doc. In my area we have one on every corner springing up. One thing they do not currently do is treat diabetics. I would also do in-office info-commericals in these centers.

The stock was trading at over $10 pre-split ($over $50 current price) for around 30 days after Afrezza approval. They had all the time in the world to do a secondary. 50 million shares at $10 ($50) would have cured all of the ills. The board of directors should've been fired a long time ago for this. Hm, I wonder how many of them are still on the board, collecting their cozy stipends for which shareholders are paying with perpetual dilutions. Now MNKD has to go through 50 circles of hell to stay in business. I'd say, at the next shareholder meeting, kick all their a$$es out! Long due!

They should have gone for much less issued at this time and proved that all these things that supposedly will enable the turn around are actually going to be successful... label change, insurance improvement, TV advertising, etc. They didn't "issue" any shares, they iare requesting an authorization for the shares. That was the point of my post. I don't have a crystal ball to predict how many of the 140 million they might issue, except that I am 99.9999% certain they will not issue 140 million. I am not sure at all. How about issuing all 140m shares to acquire a cgm? a basel? Or a marketing org in middle east covering India to boot with a truck load of cash in the bank (or underground), or all three, after we get to a position of strength? I could not, simply could not understand why people will get upset on this "authorization" thingy. If somebody knocking on Mike's door and want to buy some shares at $6, how many Mike should sell? At $10? At $X? Some here will cry "dillution", which it is. But Mike still should sell some. Why? If he cannot use that money otherwise, he can at least retire our debt, or buy back shares on the market, which will reverse the effect of the dillution, and prop up our share price. So what really matters is at what price will these shares be sold. I am as guilty (and greedy) as anybody here, but I do say there is a price Mike should sell these shares. All this authorization does is giving Mike and the board more flexibility. I choose to trust Mike will not sell these cheap and that is all that matters.

I'm growing weary of the whole Mannkind story. Waiting for a deal that is just around the corner, management decisions that leave investors scratching their heads, manipulation of the share price, it's just getting old. Shorts, naked shorts, Feuerstein, Shkreli, FDA Ugghhh! Mannkind hasn't found a way to effectively market Afrezza and our partner that is supposed to be finding new opportunities for Technosphere has so far come up empty handed. Unless something happens soon this company will die a slow death in my opinion. (Yeah I know, I'm being negative and will probably endure the wrath of the true believers but I'm losing faith that they will ever find success).

“growing weary”? as I recall you’ve not been a shareholder now for a very long time I️ remember him saying he would buy back in when the stock price starts to gain with really big volume with buyers and momentum. He did not want to try to find bottom or catch the falling knife. He was probably one of the ones that bought back in at over 5 last month being afraid not to miss the boat..

Lb isn't wrong. If the BoD had raised capital after FDA approval, we might not even be talking about raising the share count today. But, we are. All of us are going to have to swallow the pill that dilution is coming (AGAIN). The question is, how much are you willing to accept? Are you willing to give MNKD the ability to dilute you to the tune of another 140 million shares? Personally, I am not. I'd happily vote to approve an increase in share count of 40-50 million, but I just can't swallow the pill of potentially doubling the share count. I've looked for examples of other companies that have gone to shareholders with requests for a 100% increase in available shares and I can't find any. I certainly have never heard of it before, but perhaps I'm not looking hard enough. MNKD needs room to issue shares in the future, that much is obvious because they're tapped out currently. Do they need 140 million shares worth of room? Personally, I don't think so but that's just my opinion and I'll vote my shares according to my conscious. I think the company has a good plan to increase sales but I don't think they need 140 million more shares (if necessary) to achieve it, especially if things are truly looking up and they have sales trajectories moving in the right direction, as they claim.

"I'm hoping this board can share other possible reasons for doubling the shares."
MannKind has to reach positive cashflow, that will take longer than most people want to believe; in order to accomplish it they need access to cash. One option is common shares, many, hence the doubling.

Hmm, I think he "sacrified" some of his salary so that company can inflate share price short-term to generate more cash, which was indeed a master stroke!

IMO even to just have it available I think holding the power of 140million shares makes them a lot stronger than weaker. It gives them a real chance to take us to where we want. Would allowing the BoD to issue an unlimited amount of shares be even better for the company? Or is there a point where you think too many shares would evoke negative consequences from existing and potential shareholders that would actually end up weakening their ability to raise capital? As Ronnie once said, "there you go again," with your issuance of shares! The simple answer to your question above is that, no, if a BOD issues an unlimited number (<= unlimited means an infinity to me, i.e., no limit), then it would not be "even better" for the company. What's your point? As to your second question, the answer to that depends upon how many shares and for what purpose they are issuing shares. You either trust management to use the shares in such a way to benefit the company or you don't. Either way, you make your decisions accordingly. I think babaoriley summed it up nicely in an earlier post.

But we all know about those great Subaru commercials (Butch the dog that keeps growling at the boyfriend) and the grandpa and grandson going surfing ("tell grandma you were goin' fishin' again, grandpa?" "Maybe.") Or how about the great Geico commercials? The one with the "triangle" solo? Priceless.^^^!!!

Look a little harder, even do a cursory search. You said you didn't find "any" examples. While I am not making a comparison between the companies or their situations, Whole Foods in 2009 comes to mind.

We can go back and forth all day about what we think an appropriate amount of shares is to issue at this point in time. Is it 50 million, 100 million, 140 million? None of us really know what is right. They needed flexibility and it seems like they wanted to remove all doubt of having to go back again and ask for more shares. It only matters the amount of shares they actually use to raise money. We all want the playbook into what they are thinking on that, but I think the answer is that they don't even know. So how can they tell us? I think they are looking to be strategic and capitalize on where the stock price is at certain points in time to raise additional money. If that is the case, they can't tell us anything. They are not going to say to us publicly if the stock gets to $8, we will use 20 million shares to raise money. I think they plan on using the shares strategically and wanted flexibility and to remove all doubt of having to ask for more shares.
Now, if they turn around, and use all the shares a week from now at this price(and greatly dilute us), I will be certainly be upset and very wrong. My two cents.
