Just wondering what is going on this week at JPM 2018. Even with MannKind not presenting it was rumored that Mike would be there meeting and greeting others who might be helpful for the long term benefit of MannKind. Is he following the Locust Walk Playbook on meeting interesting and helpful new friends?
Any speculation might be fun as this is only day one of a four day event. Is he dining alone tonight or with new friends.
The Locust Walk playbook for JPM 2018
Bring on your wildest speculation for the who he might be meeting with and what they are discussing.
Maybe Mike is spotted in a restaurant by Adam Feuerstein and David Kliff and Mike Castagna is toasting something special?

Maybe Mike is spotted in a restaurant by Adam Feuerstein and David Kliff and Mike Castagna is toasting something special? Why would they waste the T&E if he wasn't presenting. Might as well stay in the office and keep working and by next JPM Healthcare Conference be presenting on a 2018 revenue number of $100MM and then it's game on.

I for one hope Mike C is much further along in talks with interested parties than meeting up at an annual conference. A conference is usually the place for multiple introductory meetings, i.e. more bang for the buck, though there are exceptions. I would rather hear about visits to Danbury.

I agree, but as it is said," any press is good press" If Mike is there, he will certainly be spreading the word and the progress thus far of Afrezza. We need as many feelers out there that we can get. I was surprised/disapointed that MNKD was not presenting there! Clearly not the first time that I have been dissappointed with MNKD management decisions, especially when Matt P was at the helm. There is no doubt that are certainly in much better hands under current management. Perfection? no, but what IS perfect? GLTA!!

I have not posted much in quite a while as I have been mostly following the board and observing... I do not want to contribute to any unfounded speculation and therefore will state the following as strictly my observations of what could happen this 1st Q given what we do know... 1. Deerfield Debt: The $10m note that is due this coming Monday, 01.15.18 will (my opinion) either be; a.) renegotiated to a lower price and exchanged for stock, b.) pushed back for another quarter, or c.) they will take the cash. My hope is that it is pushed back for another quarter as I think that would be seen as mildly positive. 2. Cash: My understanding of the current cash situation (and I could be wrong) is that Mnkd had approximately $40m coh at the end of 4th Q 2017, with a current cash burn of between $28m and $32m per quarter and a need to have $25m in reserve at the end of 1st Q 2018 per the Deerfield note. So it looks like Mnkd can solve this one of several ways: a.) Use the ATM to finance short term needs, b.) try and get the pps up perhaps with the announcement of some good news, or combination thereof, such as the NDA filing, meeting 4th Q guidance, increased insurance coverage (which we have been expecting in January 18), partnership announcement, STAT Study Results announcement (although I am inclined to think this will not happen until ADA) and then raise enough cash to take us 12 to 18 months out and hopefully much closer to break-even, or c.) raise cash at the current pps for another quarter or two.. In any event something will have to be announced regarding the cash situation during the first quarter. My hope is that they will announce some good news and with this, find a way to push up the pps and raise enough cash to carry us towards breakeven, taking this topic off the table for at least 12 months as one less thing to discuss while the company gains momentum and the pps in turns gains steam and stability. 3. Scripts/Revenue: are really all that matters. Everything else mentioned above whether as a specific topic or part of the several possible binary/good news events we think are on the horizon are just stop gaps for MNKD until scripts and the resulting revenue starts to climb in a bigger way. Once this happens then the stock will stabilize, the shorts will start to exit, and we can all watch this company grow over the next several years. I use the word "hope" above to express my choice of how I would like things to go in the short term, but of course as I have said before "hope is not a strategy." I am however, of the belief that Mike does have a strategy, and we should likely see some of it play out in the next 30 to 45 days. GLTAL's!!!

There are the public presentations (usually announced weeks ahead) but at JP Morgan conferences there are many more presentation meetings that are by invitation-only. These meetings bring companies together with other financial, pharmaceutical and international interests. They are not pre-announced, so you'd likely be making a mistake to assume that Mike and Steve (with Locust Walk) are just wandering around the place.

The JPM conference will be meaningless if MannKind isn’t presenting.
The reason MannKind isn’t presenting is because they don’t have any new data to present. That means none of the ongoing trials will be completed by then...
What’s the CEO supposed to do, wander around and tell people “we have some important trials ongoing and have some great preliminary data, but I can’t tell you about it yet...”?
What a waste of time... Every minute needs to go towards improving scripts & coverage (instead).

Speaking of Locust Walk, has management given an indication as to how long the engagement of Locust Walk is/was to be? I was initially thinking that it might have been a closed end engagement resulting in some sort of bidding process for pipeline assets, but after the PIPE I'm suspecting that to not be the case. I can't recall any indication from management as to a timeline for their work.
