After I workout with free weights and do my cardio I have a protein drink for breakfast. I eat a combination of any of the power foods for lunch. Oatmeal & egg whites, yogurt with 15grams of protein and blueberries, turkey broccoli salad, salmon, or sweet potato yam soup. Fajita Pita Jack-in-the-Box:-) I don’t eat much after 2 PM, for dinner I have a glass of red wine, a piece of chocolate, and a baby aspirin. I fast one day week and have one cheat day. Beazer eats Blue Buffalo and one spoon of peanut butter a day. And a few sips of red wine. Cheat day.. steak nachos or pizza:-) You guys are a bunch of interesting people.. What's the thought process behind your diet? Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to be condescending. I'm just trying to understand the reasons - it's always good to learn new things. (Seriously, how do you just have 1 *ONE* piece of chocolate, and be done?) Sorry: Off topic.. I’m a personal trainer, I do this for a living so the process is... The best way to raise your metabolism is to have 2 cups of coffee on an empty stomach in the morning before your work-out. Then you have a two hour window to refuel your muscles which is when and why I drink the protein drink. The power foods for lunch are the good for you foods. I don’t eat dinner because when I was in my 20s I lost 100 pounds by not eating after 2 PM. I just stick with that, nothing scientific about it, the only thing that matters is calories. You have to burn more than you take in. Math:-) Chocolate and red wine are good for you and are my treats. A also eat a lot hot peppers on everything. ( Raises your metabolism ) I also have to get up at 3:30 every morning so eating dinner literally makes me feel hung over when I wake up. I feel so much better if I don’t do it. Of course the weekends are for cheating!

When I was young and didn't listen to my mom's advise and got hurt ... she would say "Good for you ... maybe now you'll listen"
So now, I have bags of Dove Dark chocolates in my bar fridge and cases and cases of Cabernet wines. I can do without the hot peppers on everything ... but, I'm not as spicy as some.

Aspirin + alcohol can equal ulcers - and certainly we all have a big enough risk factor following MNKD's rollercoaster ride.

The thing that I don't get is ... if you drink the baby aspirin with water ... then start drinking wine. What's the difference? It'll all end up at the same place in a few seconds.
Oh you mean I can get ulcers?!!! Now that'll make me drink more !!! And now I'm starting to get a headache ...

If you're not an early morning workout person, fasting through the morning is much easier IMO. When I'm motivated, dinner is the last thing eaten in the day (this was just an result of the "DON'T SNACK" diet, rather than a plan to fast). Then delay a light breakfast as long as possible, with the help of coffee as appetite suppressant, but no coffee after noon. I end up only eating from ~9am - 7pm. Workouts are usually before dinner. A morning workout is definitely better for boosting your metabolism, but just doesn't fit some schedules. The benefits of fasting are all listed in the article posted by bthomas55ep above I heard somewhere that it is best to eat something within 30 min. of getting up, because it sets your metabolism for the day. Fasting in the morning slows your metabolism (because of lack of energy input) for the entire day, unless reset by exercise, or something like that. But I've been wrong about where MNKD share price was going, so I may be wrong about this as well. Edit: Or just drink the coffee like sports said.

Wait ... you fast one or two days every week? And you drink coffee and tea all day ... which are diuretics so you could be totally dehydrated? Hmmm ... easier to just eat a sponge. Ha! How much do you eat during the rest of the week? I normally eat a steady diet of almost nothing all day and more a heavier dinner. This seems to work for me. I remember watching this Simpsons episode many years ago. Homer takes Marge out for a very special dinner. Homer celebrating the occasion tells the waiter, "The lady will have your 2nd least expensive glass of wine" Still find myself using that line at dinner every now and then.
