The good news is they are offering this at the same time they are ramping up tv. Hopefully there is an online campaign to follow for this, the co-pay card and marketing in general for Afrezza. Thought for sure would see more press on JDRF article.

Is the idea to get patients hooked on afrezza the first year so that they continue on afrezza when they pay more in subsequent years? It seems to be a good business model for drug dealers. Yes, but even when the subsequent years cost more, they are still cutting out the middlemen and can still make the price attractive.

Not trying to throw cold water on this noble gesture by MNKD, but the cost is $120 per month, minimum. I'd suspect it will cost more for most subscribers to this program. So let's average up to $200 per month. That's still a hefty price for a lot of diabetics to the tune of $2400 for the one year pilot program. There's a ton of cash strapped diabetics out there who would thrive on Afrezza, but in all honesty suspect will not apply due to the cost still being too high. That's just my two cents and I could be completely wrong too. Time will tell for sure, as always. Cheers.

Will insurance companies ever consider contracting directly with pharmaceutical companies? What could Mannkind price Afrezza at that would still make them money and offer that pricing directly to insurance companies. Of course now that the PBMs and large pharmacy chains are merging, who knows what’s going to happen.

I just hope 1000 people jump on this opportunity. If they can’t get 1000 people ..... never mind.

The program is geared towards PWDs who don't have insurance and still have to pay a high price because of the middlemen expenses. This will be a good program regardless. 15% of Diabetics on insulin don't have insurance.

Yo' Mr. or Mrs. or Ms. Agedhippie. You have stated that Afrezza is too expensive for you but you'd try it if it wasn't so expensive. I'm curious what you'll do now that's it's inexpensive for you.

True but the question will be - can we quantify the number? Will they be registered through Symphony??? Probably not so we wont know until the EOQ.

Why not register thru symphony? They are being dispensed by a legit pharmacy which will get paid.

That's three times what I am paying for my insulin now so no thanks. It's a good price if you don't have cover though, especially for the titration pack.

It does remove the problem I had about my insurer canceling my existing prescription if I tried Afrezza though since they would never know.

I've already notified 2 PWD's that I am close with about this and provided the web links for them to check out the news release and the sign up. I know one of them is a cheap-azz and prolly gets their meds for pennies on the dollar so I'll be interested to see what they do. Example of email text you can send your friends who are PWD that you are comfortable discussing the subject with:

You've replied on previous threads that you'd be all for being "all in" for all of your diabetic needs for $5,000 per year. You sit here and spout negativity on Afrezza every chance you get and NOW you will complain that $4 per day is too much for you to be bothered with spending $2.67 extra per day for the best available insulin on the market that would undoubtedly improve your life. IMHO, you are not diabetic but are here 24/7 to merely spread your FUD. JMHO !!!!

FYI ...people have been waiting for this program so there is a demand already. And one more thing-The shorts won’t know how many scripts we get.😁
