Toujeo suffers from the same problem that Afrezza does with RAA - if Lantus is working for you today (or you think it is) then why change to Toujeo? For the record I did change to Toujeo from Lantus and I did get a lot better results, plus I no longer needed to split my dose to get 24hr cover. I have since moved to Tresiba which gives a better result but is marginal over Toujeo. In fairness it was my endo who told me to use Toujeo or I would probably still be on Lantus. Never underestimate inertia! Just going by memory of possibly a rumor, but I did hear discussion about how the concentration of Toujeo was troublesome for some people. Maybe it increased insulin resistance, or sensitivity, but it seemed most liked tresiba better. I don’t know if this is a question or just babble, just wondering if you experienced anything like this. I am not sure I ever heard that. It seems a bit counter-intuitive. The usual issue with injected insulin is sensitivity to the preservative and in both cases (assuming the concentrated versions - Tresiba has a regular strength version as well) you would be injecting less preservative because the volume is smaller. There is sometimes an issue with Lantus, and by extension Toujeo, around the pH of the solution and that is most often seen when you inject refrigerated insulin - let it rise to room temperature! I only saw that very occasionally and no more with Toujeo than with Lantus. The big advantage is being able to inject a smaller volume. Larger volumes take longer to absorb - something to do with the volume to surface area of the insulin bubble. I think that is the gain for Toujeo which is simply less dilute Lantus as it probably allows more complete crystallization under the skin and less free insulin and so a longer tail. Tresiba uses a modified insulin molecule instead of the mechanical approach to get it's longer tail. BTW I see nothing like the length of tail for Tresiba that is claimed.
