So, in addition to gin and tonics we should be consuming Moscow mules out of uncoated copper mugs too? (tonic water = quinine, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinine) Silver also is fairly potent viralcide... it might well produce clinically relevant results, but it has the nasty side effect of turning you blue, that is unless you've always dreamed of being a smurf. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argyriaor google "papa smurf silver" That said I do sometimes use it topically for sinus infections. I used to ingest colloidal silver, until I realized it was killing the bacteria in my intestines. It was quite an uncomfortable couple of months (lots of gas), and luckily I didn't turn my skin blue. :-) I do still use it topically though. Works well.

I'm prone to sinus infection, so I'm using it to avoid needing to nuke my entire biome with antibiotics, which can cause those same digestive issues and others. I'd never ingest colloidal silver (though many do, and apparently it takes a lot to turn you blue). For sinuses I only use it when I really suspect infection and not simply allergies. I use it in nasal rinse and follow up with nasal probiotics. Works for me, but mileage may very. Additionally, it is thought that microbes don't develop resistance to silver, or at least not nearly as easily as they do to antibiotics. For those that ingest large quantities you basically end up converting your skin into silver photographic film which gets exposed with sunlight.
