Here since 2011 Lost too much money believing in Al Mann (but I still believe) But now I’m here for my diehards who still believe!! Thank you to the Peppy’s and joey’s of the world with the charts and everyone (especially seyhey and agedhippie) who have such a knowledge of diabetes
One of my best friends has type I diabetes. She invested In Mnkd but wouldn’t switch to Afrezza. I thought it was so odd. But she was afraid to change treatment yet was intrigued by inhaled insulin. But she also never had kids bc her levels were so out of control. I could never tell her to try bc I was not diabetic. Not my place. But in my heart I knew it could have helped
Now I have friends with parents having kidney failure on metformin. Or needle phobia for shots and out of control blood sugar levels. Can someone help me for a resource for kids with money wanting to give type ii parents a better option!? They are ready to kindly direct doctors and pay for better options (like Afrezza!!!) need help please bc the situation is dire
I still believe and will till I die. Big pharma is a scam and we need more Al Mann’s and Martine’s in this world … people who care about this pathetic human race!!

Good Morning @kippyt! Appreciate all you do for the board. I moved your post to the main forum - I think that's a 1st for me. Usually I'm moving things to off topic.

That’s your call!! I figured it was off topic but works for me Should have noted my friends parents are in dallas. The one is on dialysis but no one attributes kidney issues to metformin. The other one is non compliant with treatment but might benefit talking to a doctor who is using Afrezza for type II. Long shot but I told my friends I would ask here. Thank you to everyone who contributes here daily. I mentioned a few names but so many more. This board has kept me sane during some pretty wild MNKD rides. The collective knowledge is better than any sell side analyst. I have learned so much, which has kept me in Mnkd longer than maybe I should have been, but it’s been worth it even if stock goes to 0.

IMO, For a long shot type 2 VDEX would need to be used. As far as I could tell, Vdex takes these people in and insert an continuous glucose monitor 1st thing. Then the physician will order afrezza. Seeing is believing. I wouldn't give the experience much chance at a family physician office.

I too so appreciate the MNKD family as well. I first started investing in MNKD in 2007. I am such a loser. LOL. I am still a small time investor as I never had enough money to have tens of thousands of shares. But I am still fully invested with what I could afford.
Sadly I am now “pre Diabetic”. When i asked my doctor about getting Afrezza and a Dexcom G6, he literally laughed at me. He said there is no way I would qualify for that. As most MNKD investors know, SOC calls for treatment to failure and then move onto insulin. But by that time, the damage to your eyes, feet and legs and internal organs is done. I will begin my fight to start with Afrezza and avoid the damage. I will even look into paying for it myself but not sure I can afford it. We will see.
I want to say a big thank you to my MNKD investor family for the years of support. I think we are almost there.

Hi Kippy, I saw your post, if you think they will listen I'm willing to give it a "shot" 😉, only thing I can do is let them know how it has worked for me over the years along with using a freestyle Libre sensor so they won't have to worry about several fingersticks daily. That's the part that I believe most don't want to deal with daily. The freedom it allows is life changing...yesterday I played a poker tournament from 10a to midnight and it allowed me to not have to worry or let it be a distraction as I never had to leave the table for dosing, etc. Kippy, PM me if you think I could help your T2 friend. I appreciate the time you take every week to keep us posted on the scripts, etc. 😉👍🏻

God bless you kippyt. I think most of us have had the same experience trying to encourage friends and relatives who are diabetic to look into Afrezza and when they have they are thwarted by doctors.
Maybe we should get Barney the Dinosaur as a mascot and he can sing “It ain’t easy being purple”. :-(
Been here since 2013 and I’ve never been any happier with my investment. The Sanofi deal was brilliant until it wasn’t and Al died. I thought for sure our (us here) investments were toast. I can’t thank the foundation, the board, and MC enough for keeping hope and PWDs alive.
Keep us posted even if it turns out like what we fear and I’ll add my prayers to yours.

Yes this is correct, a lot of times if we have to we will just eat the cost of the CGM because that has to come first. Just call Claudia, tell her your situation and then you guys can make a decision on what the best program or way forward is.

I want to join with everyone else here in saying Thank you for all your work here, KippyT. I do appreciate it. I am also happy to a part of this family.
If I would have been here a bit earlier, I would have beat Sports to that phone number. Thanks, Sports. I do think that (Vdex) is the way to go. That's by far the best advice you can give any diabetic. With their Telemedicine appointments, they can have Zoom-type calls with medical providers from the comfort of their home and never have to waste $5/gallon gas and put unnecessary wear on your car. And if Zoom calls is not your thing, I believe you can do regular phone calls.
I am so with you, Kippy, on Big Pharma vs. Al Mann and Martine's of the world.

Hi centralcoastinvestor, this is for you or anyone else who does not realize that being a pre Diabetic or T2 Diabetic is a choice. I believe that these conditions are completely reversible once you understand the root cause. Please watch videos below and decide if you are ready to make the correct choice. If they are in the Philly area and they want to see someone in person another option is Gary Scheiner at IDC. Its located close to Villanova. They don't advertise treating with afrezza but Gary uses it himself. They mostly treat to the SoC and mostly T1s but "experimental" treatment of T2s could be something in their wheelhouse.

I remember something like that some years ago. I also want to mention that I feel kinda bad for VDEX picking up the cost of CGMs and it made me think that if someone could get a prescription but felt the cost of the CGM was a hardship, it would be a good case for a GoFundMe at the least, but maybe there is a foundation that can help too? I don’t know anything about the cost of using CGM but assume it’s like inkjet supplies in that the printer manufacturers were selling printers at a loss (before they became scarce becuase of lockdowns and people having to work from home) and making the profit on the ink supplies.
