The post above, non tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) which is an extremely difficult lung infection to treat. The current cocktail includes 3 generic drugs, but you have to take them for years to even have a chanhanks.hance to cure the infection. I couldn't remember, thank you I couldn’t remember either so thank you for asking. I didn’t question whether an inhalable version would be valuable. I question the choice of developing it in-house without a partner for development and marketing.

prc, why would you prefer they seek a partner, as opposed to do it alone? Because I assume, perhaps incorrectly, it will require a ton of money and time and may not get approved for treating anything besides leprosy. And if after the time, money, and effort, it does get approved, then it has to be marketed and sold. Marketing and sales of Mannkind drugs has not yet been a hallmark of strength for Mannkind. I’m proud of what they’ve achieved but it is not an “embarassment of riches”, and the trend is positive but very slow. On the current sales trend, how long would it take for Mannkind to break even on marketing and sales of Afrezza alone? V-Go and Tyvaso DPI are important contributors. What I don’t want to see is an important strain on Mannkind’s resources without a concomitant revenue stream. But, perhaps I’m too pessimistic. I’ll flip the question around. What are the reasons I should be optimistic and prefer that Mannkind develop Clofazimine alone? There is no doubt that the cost and risk are greater without a partner brankrolling the development, but the rewards are too. In this case, unlike Afrezza and Tyveso there are no competitors, or existing pharma companies in that space. As a matter of fact there is no drug available but a mix of drugs that resemble a fruit slushy, with no data, no studies and seemingly really really bad side effects. As I see it there is no “partner” that might see this as an opportunity anymore than Mannkind does. For those reasons I’d rather it remained an in-house project we see to completion. I might be less prudent than most and wouldn’t mind a nice swing for the fences on this one

stevil wrote, Right now I'm holding because I have faith in UTHR and Tyvaso DPI and MNKD has some potentially lucrative prospects waiting in the wings that I want to see if anything materializes... Namely the clofazamine treatment. If it ends up being what they think it will, I think that has the potential to be a multi hundred million dollar molecule that MNKD hopefully gets to keep the vast majority.
Ha, I appreciate people's respect, but please don't feel reassured about stocks on my account. I do my best to keep up with stuff but I'm far from an expert. So please proceed with caution and enter at your own risk. BUT! stop chasing the real experts away like matt and the guy who had the Ferdinand-like bull avatar. Don't recall his name. Stevil - I have just read two things - the market is not huge and the market could be multi hundred million. Which one do you think it is? One thing I do know is setting up a TS production facility is not cheap. Why did Matt and the Ferdinand bull get chased away???

Well I guess there's still time left but I guess we will have to wait till 2023. Hoping January starts off the year right with some announcements and updates.

He left. After UTHR. Poof. No one chased Matt away. So smart, he knew when to cover.

Speaking of events before year's end, it should be recognized that staying above $5 for eight days straight now is a nice way to close out the year. Granted there's a few hours left. Not exactly a big event, but a nice finish. If we can get to the mid and upper five range in January, we might see some new buyers as MNKD will no longer be a penny stock. 2023 is looking good. GLTA and Happy New Year!

I really don't believe Matt was short MNKD, and certainly there is no evidence. My suspicion was that he was interested in how this would play out and once UTHR came along it was clear Mannkind would survive it was no longer interesting, that or he had better things to do. People are far to ready to assume that anyone who express a glass half empty view is short. It could equally be said that those who express a glass half full view are pumpers. Both expressions are equally prejudiced. There is no way that anything said on this board materially affects the share price in either direction, there is a large float and this audience is small.

Don't forget that there's nothing wrong with holding a long or a short position. There are buyers and there are sellers, winners and losers...two ways to make money and nobody put a gun to my head to pick either side of the market. Fact is, if I'm not good at picking one side, I'm likely not going to be as good being on the other side. So, I either ride it to the moon or into the ground and play the odds that I'll have more winners than losers when I cross the finish line. Always respect your comments AH. You bring some balance.

Matt could find and quote the section of the SEC manuals. He understood the material to the square root. As liane knows, there came a day myself, Lianne, Mango, and surprise Matt had a brief discussion about intubation. That was when I realized Matt was also a physician. A physician who intimately knew every booklet of the SEC. He was working for a hedge fund, shorting MNKD. Matt left with UTHR. Really a superior brain...... like that of only a number of brain surgeons. That's all. Matt has not missed us enough to come back. Anything else you would like to know? I have a lot of material on Cheeto.

Rbody knows they are shorteally a superior brain...... like that of only a number of brain surgeons. TBH the line "a physician who intimately knew every booklet of the SEC" describes any ex-physician like Matt who has been the CEO of a biotech (and I would bet there are quite a lot). The jump from knowing about SEC regulations to working for a hedge fund is quite a stretch. Lots of people have that knowledge; at the C-level minimally the CEO, CFO, and head of Legal, outside that most of the risk departments (where I come in), a large chunk of Legal, anyone in M&A, and that's far from complete. Over the course of a career you pick this stuff up - I could talk convincingly on seven or eight regulatory bodies in the US and UK (maybe some in Asia but that's very rusty now). I don't work in a hedge fund, nor have I ever worked for one beyond cleaning up (security breach) messes at a couple as a consultant a long time ago. I am going to put the second half of this post, how hedge funds actually work in and MNKD, in a more appropriate forum here - mnkd.proboards.com/post/245852/thread
