Yes, BD posted that last month. Very good article that shines a light on some scary conspiracy notions.

Actually, aged posted it a few days before my post, and I hadn't seen his. I did C/P the relevant part, though, because I thought it was worth the read for those who may have used up their free quota there.

Regardless of whether anyone believes MNKD is impacted by this I would hope that we all agree that this practice needs to be done away with ASAP.

IMO, the best news is the ever increasing attention to this corrupt practice. Currently no one can prove whether or not it's impacting Mannkind or any other company. If it could be proven, judgements would already be showing up in the courts where some have tried. The change in liability discussed could stop the practice quickly. I won't hold my breath but let's hope.

Overall short float is up from about 12% to almost 15% since the last quarterly report, which, to me, illustrates the effect they have. Breakthrough numbers but we go down 30% after that. I call BS. Maybe a small company like us in times like these goes down 10-15% after a good news spike but shorting seems to me to about double the fall.
However, they still have to replace those shares right? To me, they’re just adding torsion to the eventual spring. I seem to remember trading shares back and forth between $1 and $2 and getting pretty regular returns until all of a sudden $2’s are no more and the short float fell from 20-25% down to low teens. How much is naked shorting contributing to cause and effect? Who knows? (And, who cares? Let us who see the discrepancy profit from it).
I guess I’m counting on market equilibrium to win out in the end. Accelerated revenue growth takes care of all

... I guess I’m counting on market equilibrium to win out in the end. Accelerated revenue growth takes care of all This is a pairs trade. When MNKD diverges from UTHR the stock gets shorted because there is no reason for it to outpace UTHR as that's the revenue source. The flipside is that if MNKD diverges below UTHR then the traders will go long. Breaking this cycle requires more significant revenue streams. MNKD is more volatile, but ultimately it reverts.

I think you are right. I hadn't yet been able to put a label to the trend, but we ARE trading like part of a pair. To Wall Street, we're still a one trick freakin' pony. That will probably keep us locked in this kind of trade range until a pipeline breakthrough or until Afrezza can do more than just keep the lights on. Landing a great partner on excellent trial results could help shake the old "one-trick pony" identity for Mannkind but that's not until next summer. Brazil and India aren't really what I'd call catalysts either. They could help with economies of scale and keep our trend going upwards but that's about it without something big. Guess I'm going to be trading around a core, selling calls and puts. Lather, rinse, repeat until further notice.
