Scientists raise alarm over potentially deadly side effect from celeb-favorite fat-loss drug Wegovy and Ozempic that may have been MISSED in trials After observing over 500,000 reports, they found that people who used GLP-1 drugs for diabetes management were 4.5 times more likely to suffer intestine obstruction. Intestinal obstruction is responsible for around 30,000 deaths in the US every year. We knew it was a mess but it might be worse than I thought. Maybe this is why most stop using within 2 years as they develop bad intestinal issues. www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11826247/Scientists-raise-alarm-potentially-deadly-effect-fat-loss-shot-Wegovy.html

There is still no such thing as an effective and safe diet pill.

You could ask Ginger Vieira who uses it if it's worthwhile.

I wonder how many PWDs are dying from intestinal blockage caused by GLP1s and there has not been a direct linkage between the cause of death and GLP1s?
Of those 30k how many are GLP1 users? hmmmmm 30k is a really big number, if its 10k thats a huge number.

The diabetic articles I research and post under the Vdex account on LinkedIn. I have to look at them word for word, and make sure that none of them go against our protocols.

This isn't really a surprising finding... People with diabetes sometimes already have gastroparesis. It has been a well-known mechanism to further delay gastric emptying as part of what improves satiety.
From what has been shared on this thread so far, I don't think this "news" is likely to cause any considerable splashes.

Why do you think they are seeing this at 20 weeks and not 16 weeks in the mice? I don't think the mice were diabetic. Since the focus of the article is Wegovy we will have to wait and see as it was approved less than 2 years ago. Most people stop using Ozempic within 2 years. The problem with Wegovy is once they stop using they gain the weight back and sometimes more. What's a dieter 4 years into using Wegovy going to look like? Would you take that risk??? If they start seeing the blockages in the 30 somethings who are not diabetic - that should answer the question if its a semaglutide thing or a diabetic gastroparesis thing. For the PWD we already know they would be better taking the afrezza and with the new CMS CGM ruling maybe more will.

What does that even mean? There are no grounds for either of those numbers, they are just made up from thin air.

Why do you think they are seeing this at 20 weeks and not 16 weeks in the mice? I don't think the mice were diabetic. There are a few strains the breed for diabetic research that have mutations that make them diabetic. I never liked the rodent model because it's at best a very rough approximation. They have cured Type 1 in mice, I think twice now, but the treatments have never worked in humans.
