I do not think the analysts who raised the SP estimate were surprised. I’m curious to see a good analysis of the new convertible bond captial raise. I hope Matt and/or Aged will weigh in. I assume Nate will but I’m not a subscriber.
I was actually happy to see the $200M news today. I remember reading an interview with the CEO for a day we had when Hakan stepped down. De’Sisto? I don’t remember his exact name. He mentioned that one of his lessons of being a CEO of a small growing BP was, “you need twice as much capital as you think”.
I am completely unconcerned about this capital raise with the exception of worrying the money can be squandered. $150M or $200M is easier to spend than you might think.
The opportunity has always been there to make Afrezza sell as well as it deserves for the safety, efficacy, and convenience. Will MC make it happen? I believe he might.

He might “make Afrezza sell as well as it deserves” or he might not. Now with so much cash raised, there is no excuse not to bring in VDEX, put the ego aside and seriously collaborate. Learn from VDEX for the betterment of PWDs and Afrezza traction. That would turn your hedging “might” into “will.”

Afrezza dosing/administration is much more difficult than was realized at first. VDEX has it down. The VDEX protocol may be labor intensive and perhaps costly to implement on a large scale, but the high retention rate is worth it. It produces lifelong "customers" of an extremely expensive product and eventually will create large revenues. If MC does not team up with VDEX I hope he at least looks at what they've done, learns from it and implements some of it for MNKD. Indeed, I was disheartened the other day with one of Sports' posts wherein she lamented that MNKD still doesn't know how to teach patients how to avoid the cough. Sad. Wake up, MC!

Agreed, mcbone. In addition to those points, I think about the opportunity cost of not working with (or at least learning from) VDEX. How many patients have tried Afrezza only to quickly abandon it due to lack of proper training and teaching. Those patients are unlikely to be convinced to try it again. Let’s not continue making the same mistakes.

I think MNKD has learned from VDEX’s success. If you listened to them regarding the dosing and P3 plan for India and the Peds trial, you should have heard they want to get the dosing right for the trials.

Well, here comes the VDex advertising again.. and I must ask, is there any proof by now of their claim of increasing Afrezza sales with a high retention rate? Do we just have to take their word for it? There seems no visible trend in the overall numbers and the higher retention over the last month could just indicate that normal doctors learned about Afrezza. As for avoiding the cough, you do not need VDex for that either, joining the Afrezza FB group gives you access to a huge group with good tips, for example taking a sip of water before and after inhalation. Seems like a cheaper and thus better choice than VDex to me.

Exactly great post. There’s a way to utilize the inhaler that helps tremendously with inhalation.

VDEX? owned by Wild Bill? the same guy who openly talked down Mannkind's goals and ideas to investors? And didn't he personally attack Mike's character? Anyways, I recall Mike saying "Give Bill enough rope and he will HANG himself". So I don't think ANYTHING will EVER materialize as long as Mike is CEO. This makes me Happy.

I doubt that he said that. And Bill did not talk down Mannkind’s goals. He had different marketing ideas that he wanted utilized. For the good of all. I think Shawn’s post about being a new patient at Vdex holds a lot of weight. It’s a reality check on what can be accomplished. We all want Afrezza to be a resounding success.
