To see a short squeeze in action now, look at EBIX. I used to own a lot of this, but sold to buy MNKD.
You'll see steady 2-3% jumps everyday with increasing volume. Once squeeze is set in motion, the momentum traders join the party to pour gasoline over fire.

"Your math is wrong. You would make $10,000 less the cost of borrowing. Not a great return for a $7mil investment considering the risk." Yes you are correct. Still, $6,000 not a bad days pay. Commission is negligible.
Try putting in a limit order to sell 1 million shares (and then buy them back because you will need to do both). You might only get a partial fill for the usual $8.95/trade commission and then need to place another order. big crooks playing with millions of $ and millions of shares ( not necessarily shorty )and $8.95 /trade commission? they might even get some $ back from exchange/MM for providing liquidity

Just joking. I guess I should use the emoticons or at least LOL. But the point is tossing 1 million shares back and forth in a small issue like MNKD is not as easy a just typing in an order. And as the volume seems to be drying up I think traders might be worried that shares are being siphoned off by serious accumulation.
But our friend could always try an experiment with say 10,000 shares or whatever he can stake; discount any excessive commissions; and report back on the profits (or just go on a spending spree.)

Is it really non-profit? True you may not get paid for running the site but you profit from the opinions and analysis of its members. lol As do you! Absolutely, and I was remiss in not thanking you for the opportunity to participate in this forum.

What is the availability today & interest rate on loaning your shares? I just got off the phone with Fidelity about 20mins ago, it's still at 17.25%, it sounded like it may go to 19% from talking to the rep, just depends on the amount of shares available to short. It's going to take about a week for me to transfer my funds over, so I can't wait to take advantage of this

Fidelity has it on the HTB list now at 24.75% Ya Baby! Why would somebody pay that kind of rate to borrow shares?

When loaning out shares: one important point to remember....
You do not get to vote your shares when they are lent out- recall them a few days before proxy date of record otherwise Wells, BoA, or some short 'bastardo' may get his say...

That is correct, not like many of us care to vote against Mr. Mann j/k Another thing, your shares are not SIPC insured, but I think they are insured by a 3rd entity instead at 101% (Wells Fargo, BofA). So if Fidelity were to ever go belly-up, you would need to work with the entity on getting your shares/$$$.

Fidelity this morning now is charging 29% for shorting MannKind. What is going on? I can't read the tea leaf's but something big has to be brewing. I am waiting to break out the Ouzo bottle and toast with Spiro.

A borrow rate of 70%?! You'd need this to go to 0 in a year to make a really small profit.

What are the pros and cons to loaning out your shares? I have received a call from Fidelity (they never called me before)and asked if I wanted to loan my shares of MNKD out.
