ok, i'm trying to get caught up, did Liane just call Spiro chronic disease. geez Liane Spiro just caught Diabetes on 2/18/2015 after his 7.1 A1c. I have watched that Mallomar video 5 times now, such a craving it is.
mrmookie123 - Spiro feels your pain.
sbs, unfortunately, Spiro didn't do a lot of testing prior to starting Afrezza. I had started a house painting project the week before I started Afrezza. I did a 0,1,2,3,hr BG test a couple of times but the morning exercise from painting probably compromised my results. I only paint in the morning while it is still sort of cool.
SBS, I am not comfortable with this data, but here it is. On all of these days, I worked around 3 hours non-stop. I started each meal with an unusually low BG.
These meals were exactly the same, a deliberately high 78 carb meal.
Pre Afrezza - Lunch
BG 96 1 hr 162 2 hr 130 3 hr 144
With Afrezza - Lunch
BG 86 1 hr 136 2 hr 104 3 hr 102
Next day lunch - Lunch, No clue how many carbs. Typical Spiro lunch, Salami, Bologna, Provolone Cheese with Miracle Whip on White Mountain Bread. No cheetos now, Diet Coke
BG 96 1hr 102 2hr 119 3hr 92
These are the numbers that I showed my doctor on the afternoon of day 4, when it was decided to continue the same dose. I am not comfortable with the accuracy of the BG readings, particularly with the higher numbers, my guess from plus 10 to minus 10 range. But at least it gives me something to look at, but of course, at the expense of my poor fingers.
Spiro here, 100 fasting glucose and 101 three hours after breakfast today. How can Liane call me, Spiro the Chronic?

Holdem, don't worry, Spiro forgives Liane, she was only using some big doctor word on him. it could have been worse, she could have called Spiro pathological or something else worse than that.

Spiro , As a "Global Moderator " on this board ( & someone who's been invested longer than most, I believe there's only 3 of you who've earned this title thus far ) I am one of you're biggest fans !! I also consider myself lucky to have had a phone conversation with you at one point so I've no doubt that you are the Real Deal I'm very happy to see the results you're experiencing on Afrezza & even more so that you're taking the time out of your day to share them with us , my Thank You's go out to all of those who are sharing their personal experiences with us ( strangers on a message board ) . I've had the good fortune to meet many of the posters in person & I place a lot of trust in the the fact that I believe you all come from a place of honesty & integrity & as a Registered Nurse , I am happy to see the amazing results you all are experiencing !! Those who know me , know that I don't work in adult care but I do witness the complications of Diabetes from a different persective , being complications in pregnancy , I am by by nature a people person & I'd love more than anything of monetary value , to see this be the Holy Grail drug that Al Mann himself claims it to be , to better the Lives of everyone who's living their disease around their Life , I'd prefer to see you all Live your Lives without the daily struggles & long term complications I'm sorry for rant , but Your results are what help me sleep well at night , the day to day share price doesn't phase me ! I wish you all the best of health & I truly hope that Afrezza is a game changer for diabetics Lynn

Lynn, thank you for the kind words. But Geez, you are almost embarrassing me. i don't deserve fans. I only have a little puny chronic disease, right Liane. It's not like Spiro is extra chronic or something worse. Spiro is really hoping that this early intervention with Afrezza will keep his puny chronic disease from becoming extra chronic. I have actually been told that intervention could be more effective even earlier than my stage. It's going to be very interesting when we start to see the A1c results between May and july, from all the early Afrezza users. Now, about this moderator stuff. I may be the worst moderator in the history of moderation. I think Liane and BD only gave me this title to help keep me out of trouble. They also put a clause in my contract, that I had to keep the number of my posts at 50% less than Baba's. This has not been hard to do. I also have a big bonus clause, if I don't make any political references during the year. I may have already blown that one. My Moderator contract is coming up for renewal soon. If I don't get re-signed, I will become a Free Agent Moderator. If this occurs, I am hoping that Baba will be my attorney during free agency. I am sure he will get me the worst possible contract. i got the first hint that Liane wasn't going to renew my contract when she called me an EXUBERANT PUMPER a few weeks ago. And now, she just called me Spiro The Chronic. What would people will think when they see the title, Spiro, Chronic Global Moderator? You know, it's really going to be hard to find a good non-paying moderator job somewhere else, at a site where everybody respects each other.

Spiro, you're gonna give Liane a complex, she was just funnin' you! And now that you're an Afrezza Celebrity (a portmanteau anyone? Celefrezza? Zzalebrity? Tough one!), she'd best show you respect, or she may have to ban herself!
I'd be happy to represent you, Spiro, but that would definitely involve you coming to California so we could more justifiably choose California law to govern the contract, and you'd have to bring your golf clubs! You needn't worry if you're not an American citizen (you're still working on that, right?), we're very lax here, as I'm sure you've heard. I'm confident that soon enough all those drachma you've saved are going to be legal tender once again, and you can move back to the mother country to become an Exzorbarant Pumper.
Feeling really good about our chances this evening (great Kings win over Canucks has helped my attitude)! Good luck to all!

Spiro here Good Morning Spiro, I almost spit out my coffee reading this thread. Don't worry, you are not totally to blame - you had help from baba's post that followed. As to the term "chronic", I pull that from your history: You did not just wake up one day and suddenly you were a diabetic; it's a process. "Chronic" is just something that develops over time and worsens. Anyway, with the mere threat of you engaging baba as your attorney, we've renewed your moderator contract under the existing terms. I'll even throw in a baklava or two.

Liane, thanks for renewing my contract. i was getting a little nervous about renewal. i thought Baba negotiated a change in my title to Lead Global Moderator.

It's not something I fully understand if you really have significant insulin resistance... Maybe you pancreas is slacking off for another reason...?

silent bob,
When you get to 69, it seems lack everything is slackening off. Baba don't go there. I also have a family history of diabetes. i think the bigger issue is, would type 2 diabetics like myself with a similar A1c of 7.1 or higher react the same as I have to Afrezza. If so, at what level should doctors intervene to halt the progress of the disease? So what will the future be? Toxic oral meds or Afrezza?

Spiro here IF Afrezza replaces the first phase insulin response, shuts down liver glucose production and the pancreas doesn't need to compensate with a large second phase insulin response THEN Afrezza MAY reduce hyperinsulinemia which MAY reduce insulin resistance which MAY arrest the progression of diabetes. This effect also applies to metabolic syndrome (central obesity, low HDL, high triglycerides, HTN and glucose intolerance) and prediabetes (which is essentially insulin resistance and glucose intolerance). IF this is the case THEN the earlier Afrezza is introduced in T2s, metabolic syndrome and prediabetics the better.

Ok, I wasn't going to post this, but I was just encouraged by SBS to share it with the board. Hopefully enough of you are infomaniacs, so that I don't get cursed too much.
I took some more readings at lunch today. I ate a 37 carb frozen meal for reference purposes.
Starting BG 95 1 hour 114 Before Afrezza this could have been 185 or higher 2 hour 115 3 hour 127 I guess this reminded Spiro that he is still a diabetic and shouldn't be eating 37 carb lunches. This number also pissed Spiro off, he thought he was cured. 3 1/2 hour 109 5 hour 82
Oh well, where the heck did that 82 come from? Probably a bad test strip. Maybe the 127 was a bad strip also. Could Spiro have been Psychosomatically set back after being called "Spiro the Chronic" by Liane. Or, could these numbers just be typical variations caused by questionable eating habits.
Have a great weekend everybody,

What was the meal? Was it high in fat? Fat can cause carbs to digest much slower and the extra triglycerides in the bloodstream will cause the liver to release more glucose. That could explain the minor bump after the initial action.

XO,
Spicy Jamaican Patty, Spiro has no idea what's inside of them and really, really doesn't want to know, because he likes them sometimes.
