Case History
Because of HIPAA privacy rules, Spiro can only reveal certain aspects of his medical condition.
Spiro is a charming 69 year old 5'9", 199 lb, white male. He has a family history of diabetes and coronary artery disease. Because of two recent hospitalizations and numerous CAT scans, MRI's and various Ultrasounds, his hospital considers him a valued customer. Approximately 5 years ago, Spiro's A1C creeped to 6.0 and his primary care doctor immediately began annoying Spiro, by calling him a diabetic. Spiro's A1C continued to slowly increase until about 7 months ago when his A1C reached 6.6. At the time Spiro's weight had risen to 215 lbs. After a serious warning from at least 2 of Spiro's doctor's, Spiro started walking 1 1/2 miles per day and tried to lose weight. His blood work was repeated on Feb.12. Spiro and his doctor were surprised to see that after losing 15 pounds and routine exercise, that his A1C has increased to 7.2. That would indicate an average glucose of 160 during the prior 3 month period. After a brief discussion, Spiro left the office with a 3 month Afrezza prescription.
The office visit was not all bad news for Spiro.
Total Cholesterol 119 HDL 37 LDL 57 Free PSA 1.2
Before starting Afrezza, Spiro did some control testing on various meals, taking starting glucose, 1 hr, 2 hr and 3hr readings. Spiro's 1 hr glucose reading would vary from 163- 189, depending on the number of carbs. The 3 hour reading would be between 132 and 142.
I have listed below, Spiro's Fasting glucose levels for the past 8 days.
2/26 134
2/27 135 Started Afrezza at BK
2/28 131
3/1 119
3/2 115
3/3 114
3/4 113 Check this out, 119- 2 hrs after dinner, 84 - 4 hours after dinner, 88 - 5 hrs after dinner
3/5 100
On 3/1, Spiro was hesitant to believe the early results and went and purchased another True Test glucose meter and 2 more vials of test strips. Both meters and all of the test strip boxes are within 1-3 points of each other.

Thanks so much for sharing! It is great to get first hand testimony from a T2. Those are very good results. Especially the March 4 data! And the next day's fasting BG of 100, WOW! Congratulations and best of luck going forward. I hope to join your club in the weeks to come.

Very disappointing....Spiro was only able to move the s/p 8 cents ....on a more serious note, extremely happy for you and expect to be right there with ya shortly!! Of course the quack woman would tell you your doing yourself a disservice because you will just be eating a lot more gyros and baklava

I think you should take a picture of you with your Afrezza and a whole table of junk food and tweet it to that idiot blogger who claims taking Afrezza is going to cause people to eat junk food and get fat. And then tweet her your results.

That's Awesome!!! But I can understand other Diabetics skepticism...it does to them seem too good to be true. Aren't we all conditioned to think that way?
Again Congrats and HAPPY HEALTH!!!

I apologize for taking so long to post my early results. I just wanted to see a longer trend. I am still eating the same types of meals as before. I am 69 and stubborn and it's way too late to start eating a lot of rabbit food and other more healthy foods. I refuse to to give up Spanakopita, Greek Easter cookies and Mallomars.
Joey, Afrezza 4 mg is the only diabetes medication I have ever taken.

spiro,
So you were able to get Afrezza without a trial of other diabetes medications? Sweet!

Reminded me of the technicians at 3 mile island who were certain the dials showing control rod malfunction were wrong. Thanks for sharing your data. Chris C

Excellent results. You are probably the poster child (or poster senior?) type 2 who will do very well with Afrezza as a disease modifying drug (which it hasn't been proven to be yet). There are actually a few 100 millions of patients like this world wide. 1% of that pre diabetic/ early diabetic patient population would be 1-3 million patients and that is just for patients like Sprio. Not counting the likely x% market share of type 1 prandials (and I think it will be much higher then people give it credit for) and the middle to late stage type 2 diabetics.
There seems to be a wide margin of safety here (and more so with the cratering share price...).
Thank you Spiro for sharing,
