Sam Finta is truly an incredible individual. He is a pioneer and genuinely wants the world to know how amazing Afrezza is. Like anything else there is a learning curve. With everyone's different eating habits, the use of Afrezza is an art, but the results are life changing. Spiro and I had the opportunity to have lunch with him today. Keeping an eye on his continuous glucose monitor over a 2 hour period was very enlightening. Attachment Deleted

Enlightening = amazing. Afrezzauser is like a pilot. He calls his glucose lowering ( after inhaling) a "soft landing". He knows how his body responds to his Afrezza dose before eating. Not too low and not too high. He is able to keep a safe range where his A1c will remain in non-diabetic range. He was never able to achieve this with his previous injectable prandial insulin.

Another big benefit i sense incubating is life long friendships that this new therapy seems to be responsible for starting. Theres something about suffering being diminished among like individuals at the early stage of a medical breakthrough that forms a bond thats hard to define

Spiro wants to know, how Afrezzauser ate twice as much as he did after they both took 4 units of Afrezza and Spiro is the guy with the big belly? Spiro had to eat faster than usual, because he thought Afrezzauser had an eye on his bagel. Ashiwi was impressed with Afrezzauser's Dexcom device.

Maybe it has something to do with Afrezzauser going yo the gym everyday and bench pressing 300lbs.

Oh yeah, so Ashiwi, you think it's easy to swing those heavy golf clubs over a 100 times once a week. Spiro says that Ashiwi will be joining him very soon as a Type 2 if he keeps downing big lunches like he did today.
Spiro here, he will not start going to a gym.

So after talking to afrezzauser... What is his true motiviation? Does he hold a position in mnkd? Flying around the country on his own dime meeting with patients seems odd to the layperson, but could make sense if he's independently wealthy, etc.
Most of the FUD/criticism about him is rooted in there not being a good reason for why he goes around the country talking up Afrezza. If he is a paid spokesperson for Mannkind, but not disclosing it, I think that'd be bad when it eventually comes to light.
If he's just a good person whose job allows him to fly around the country spreading the good word about Afrezza, then awesome. It's just hard to believe...

I genuinely believe that Sam has waited patiently to get back on Afrezza after he was denied compassionate use when the FDA trials ended . This has changed his Life & he wants to spread the word , as a kind soul , but also bc he doesn't want to see this drug taken away from him , it's a win win for him as I see it . He helps others , spreads the word & in return he's rewarded by not having it shelved and he's changing Lives ( that is Priceless and more rewarding than any financial gain IMHO ) . I hold him in high regards . I also believe that he is self employed & travels for a living . People have a tendency to become jaded , but there are genuinely good people in this world , I am blessed to be surrounded by them , both in my life and in my work . Sam is the real deal .

My impression has always been that Sam travels a lot for his job. He's made many travel references over the years and I've just assumed it's related to work. If so, and if he's meeting with interested people while traveling for work anyway, then it's not the expense some might wrongfully assume. As for his motivation, many of us have been reading Sam's posts on Yahoo since long before the ADCOM. He was then as he is now; a type 1 who works very hard to control his disease and who became overjoyed when he realized what Afrezza could do for his control and for his quality of life. I think he's just a living breathing example of the wonders Afrezza can work and he's motivated for the good of the diabetic community to spread the word.
