Does anyone know if the convertible debt is selling at a discount? Last trade was in June around 102.5.

trenddiver, I am in agreement with you in that I doubt that any positive rally associated with financial news related to the convertibles or the Q2 report will be long lasting. After all, if the company's price per share could not hold gains after FDA approval, after partnership with Sanofi, and after Afrezza's launch, I find it very difficult to see any reason why the scenario will now be any different. That being said, there is always the possibility of some positive news about some big player buying in with a large stake, be it Sanofi or Santa Claus, but to me this possibility is about as realistic as hoping to win when you put your money down on 00 in roulette. Yet, there is always that possibility and there is always someone who wins the lottery, eventually. Assuming that no big player does buy into MannKind this year, I very much believe that the p/s will continue to be pumped and dumped between $5 and $6 for the next few months and probably through the end of the year. Traders make a lot of money in this process and, with a $5 stock, it only takes $20 million dollars to move the p/s up or down several points in an hour. MannKind is a company with a technology that will create a brand new paradigm not only with Afrezza but with additional inhaled drugs. But, this new paradigm will take a few years to manifest. It will not happen this August and until MNKD actually sees substantial money coming in from sales, the p/s will continue to meander between traders who push one way and then another. Hi Rob, thanks for responding to my post. I always enjoy reading your articles on Seeking Alpha. I don't disagree that after some major events for Mannkind like FDA approval and partnership the stock price certainly didn't do what many of us thought it should. It was very disheartening to watch any gains from those events get walked back down in the weeks that followed. The short interest working against this stock is intense and powerful. That being said, the games that the shorts are playing will eventually come to an end. The question is when. I don't believe the retail longs have enough fire power to overcome the pump and dump game being played by the shorts. But institutional investors and other hedge funds do have the fire power. So what will it take for more big players to move in. Although I may be wrong, it is my belief that news in August from both Sanofi and Mannkind will be sufficient enough for new accumulation by institutions. I don't think the news needs to be earth shattering but collectively more positive than the last quarterly meetings. This trend of ever increasing stability will bring more confidence in Afrezza and the partnership going forward. Institutional investors are less interested in making a quick killing and more interested in long term growth. But I don't think they are adverse to gathering shares at artificially low prices. Once the institutions begin their slow accumulation, it will be a large enough force to counter act the short games thus slowly driving the price up. In the end, I believe that there will be short squeeze that will finally drive the shorts away once and for all (see my other post). But that could take a year or so.

Mom and pop retail are not the ones shorting this stock. Do you think money managers Like Black Rock & Vangaurd would allow that while owning almost 40 million shares ? The shorts are like I have been saying for months are the BUYERS, Insty accts who keep accumulating each quarter. They are doing what Wall Street does best, Making a lot of money. They in fact have given all of us the opportunity to continue to accumulate shares at ridiculously low prices. I believe they will unwind this trade shortly & exit via options. They are in a long term trade here, and so am I.

How can you sell short and accumulate at the same time? This has never made sense to me. At some point, the whole thing needs to net out and somebody will win and somebody will lose.

"I believe they will unwind this trade shortly & exit via options." ripano, we've been hearing at least the first part of your statement for years. I have long since lost hope on "shortly," I now only hope for "eventually!"

Joey, not only a great movie, but a key movie (like a key race in thoroughbreds) where so many great careers were launched! Speaking of great movies, had a couple of glasses of wine last night and watched The Ghost and Mrs. Muir for the first time. One can certainly understand why Rex Harrison got the lead in My Fair Lady after seeing his performance as the Ghost! And Gene Tierney, as always, wow!
Sorry for the OT, but I don't want to think about the "T" stuff that much today, which appears to be a tough one. Hope GWB is right about a redoubling (refocusing) of efforts on the part of SNY to get those Rx's where they ought to be.

Hope GWB is right about a redoubling (refocusing) of efforts on the part of SNY to get those Rx's where they ought to be. Not at all concerned about SNY...actually they are bumping up against weekly highs in s/p in case no one has noticed, looking at the Sep 55's...price is truth when it comes to them as they are not in a "battleground" so to speak. With the broader market down the last few days, their strength is very telling and could be foreboding for next week...we shall see. Lol, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir..that's pulling one out and blowing some dust off. Btw, if you're short shorts doesn't that mean you're long Kball thanks for the correction, thought that person was the father from the father and son combo, nevertheless more importantly the report from them regarding their visit is the crux of my point. -J

Instutionlal ownership continues to grow. They keep naked shorting so as to continue to accumulate. Hedge funds, money managers etc have lots of experience in investing in start up companies. The longer they stay the longer we, I, continue to buy. Each month we see new afrezza users praising it's health benefits. Soon the other lines will be approved,DTC ads start. Doctors are now starting to feel more comfortable in prescribing..The unwind of this trade is close..I buy each month and am extremely grateful for this trade to last as long as it has. The institutional accts continued buying on VALIDATES our amazing investment opportunity. I am one of those people who try and always look at the positive side of life. And this is the most positive I have ever been about any investment I have ever made. Al Mann has created many companies. But he only named one after himself for his legacy.

This comment is slightly off topic, but since others have mentioned EYES, (Second Sight Medical Products, Inc); I did some DD on it, and thought about Al Mann and his legacy. How must it feel to be a guy in his shoes who has made so much money (mostly to give away for philanthropic purposes) and done so much good for so many people? -(And Bill Cosby got a presidential medal of freedom? -sorry, couldn't resist). Al Mann's life so far reminds me of Emerson's great quote about success, which concludes "To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Find the full Emerson quote here and enjoy a great weekend everyone with the comforting thought that there ARE still a few entrepreneurs out there who can live outside themselves. Chris C
