MannKind's shares are anticipated to be included in five TASE equity indexes: TASE's TA-75, TA-100, TA-BlueTech, TA-Tech-Elite and TA-Biomed.
The inclusion in these indices should mean shares will be acquired by any funds tied to these just like in US...think of the Russell rebalancing etc.

Maybe there are some institutional investors that Al has connections with in Israel that have some limitations in what they can invest in? For instance many U.S. funds are set up to invest domestically. Though one would suspect that in a country as small (and relatively wealthy) as Israel it would be routine to look beyond their own shores for investing opportunities. I'm usually not one to jump on board with speculation of "something brewing", and I doubt it will be anything earth shattering, but I suspect there is some specific reason not just trying to snag a few extra Israeli retail investors.

In 2005, non-Israeli investment in TASE reached an all-time high of NIS 2 billion, while the TA-25 increased 34%. By the end of the year foreign investment banks UBS, Deutsche Bank, and HSBC had become members of TASE.[6]
In September 2006, TASE bought out the shares of TASE Clearing House from TASE members, making it a fully owned subsidiary.[7]
In 2007, trading averaged $500 million a day, a 55% increase over the previous year. The number of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) grew to 240. The Tel Bond-20 index was also launched that year.[8] The TA-25 rose 175% in the period 2004–07.[5]
In May 2008 Northern Trust started the first US exchange-traded fund on the NYSE based on TASE's benchmark, the TA-25 Index.[9]
In 2014, TASE moved to its new premises in Tel Aviv, located at 2 Ahuzat Bayit Street. The modern building covers an area of 22,600 square meters and has 14 floors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tel_Aviv_Stock_Exchange agreements[edit]
In February 2007 the TASE and the London Stock Exchange signed a formal memorandum of understanding intended to smooth the trading of securities listed on both exchanges. At the time, 50 Israeli companies were listed on the London Stock Exchange.[11] A similar memorandum of understanding was signed between the TASE and The Nasdaq Stock Market in November 2007.[12] NASDAQ at the time had 70 Israeli companies listed on the exchange, with a combined global market cap of over US$60 billion.[13][14]
In July 2008 the TASE and NYSE Euronext entered into a memorandum of understanding. At the time seven Israeli companies traded on the NYSE.[9]
In November 2008 the TASE and the Shanghai Stock Exchange signed a memorandum of understanding, with delegations to be sent to each other's markets to deepen understanding and promote trade.[15]
In February 2010 the TASE and the Toronto Stock Exchange signed a memorandum of understanding, committing to the cultivation of stronger ties between the two exchanges.[16]

I think you are on to the strategy here. Al has a very powerful group of business insiders in Israel. I am speculating that that group will be buying some of MNKD to help drive out the shorts.

Wasn't MNKD hopeful to have AFrezza in Isreal? One of the first countries outside of the U.S. maybe there is a conncection?

Wasn't MNKD hopeful to have AFrezza in Isreal? One of the first countries outside of the U.S. maybe there is a conncection? Beyond the discussion re: bringing more buyers in that may be tied to these new exchanges (we already have place on DAX), it may be that in order for a deal to be cut for sale in country, government may expect reciprocal relationship allowing them to benefit within their financial system. In other words - if you want us to sell/buy it here, you need to give us a cut. A piece o action. Pure, uninformed speculation here. I do not know how the game works there. Though I would be surprised if there was a connection back to Saudi - but then, who knows. Just doing my duty to don the foil hat.

Dual listing in Tel Avi is a great free ads to grease the skid for launching Afrezza in ME countries. This happens a day after I wrote: The U.S. health care is fragmented by many insurances and PBMs; whereas, may EU, ME countries have National Health Care/Single Payor. See my post below. 10-Q: U.S. 3rd Party Payor vs EU Pricing System Read more: mnkd.proboards.com/thread/3768/3rd-party-payor-pricing-system#ixzz3pKyAqImFIt'd be easier to expand to ME countries first (National health Care/single Payor, possibly FDA approval is accepted), then EU (National health Care/single Payor, EMA approval is requuired). Al Mann's fatherland is Israel. He has lots of connections there. Launching Afrezza in Israel first in ME would be a good idea. Some 98% of our formulation of oxytocin survives 8 months at 40°C, and the inhaler has proved a highly efficient means of delivery. I was told Sny planned to expand Afrezza in Middle East next year. Anyone knows the approval process and national healthcare Tier placement and pricing? I'd imagine ME countries may accept FDA or EMA approved drugs. Why can't Sny target such countries first? The same logic applies to populous nations such as Brazil, India, Russia, Mexico, and low entry barrier nations such as Australia, Canada, NZ. What is this all about? What purpose could this possibly serve? I must admit to being a bit confused about this latest twist... Mannkind certainly isn't predictable! MannKind Announces Dual Listing on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange VALENCIA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) today announced that the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) has approved the new listing of MannKind's common shares beginning on October 28, 2015 under the ticker symbol MNKD. Based on the current market capitalization, MannKind's shares are anticipated to be included in five TASE equity indexes: TASE's TA-75, TA-100, TA-BlueTech, TA-Tech-Elite and TA-Biomed. "The new listing also offers an opportunity to expand and diversify our shareholder base by increasing our exposure and improving our accessibility to Israeli investors," said Hakan Edstrom, President and CEO of MannKind. "This listing is also an extension of the long-standing relationship between our Executive Chairman, Alfred Mann, and the Israeli biotechnology industry, including the Alfred Mann Institute at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology)." TASE CEO, Yossi Beinart said, "We welcome MannKind to the TASE Dual Listing, and believe that this is a recognition of the Biomed sector's special position at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. MannKind has long and strong relations with the Israeli Biomed Sector, via the founder and executive chairman Mr. Alfred E. Mann, one of pioneers of the Biomed sector in the U.S., who has supported developing and commercializing Israeli technologies for many years. We are proud that a company with a market value of more than a billion US dollars chose to join 50 dually-listed companies, as well as the TASE leading indices. Joining TASE entitles MannKind to significant benefits, including added exposure among Israeli investors, extension of the trading duration, investment by Exchange Traded Product vendors and easy access to institutional and retail investors." MNKD first ADR. American Depositary Receipt (financial) for instance, alcatel (FRENCH COMPANY) which bought lucent, had an adr ALU.pa for france, ALU is the USA

The way I see it , this is very good news , it means that know the 5 biotech indices will have to buy or obtain Mannkind shares , so they are in their index Where are they going to get these shares, unless they already own them , they have to get them in the open market , therefore we will have more buyers bidding for the few shares available, since so much of the float is shorted
I can only see the news as impacting the price of PPS shares in a positive way Thanks Al!
Will listen to any opposing views

the short squeeze we have been waiting for. I asked harryx1 on stocktwits what short interests rates were, he mentioned from 51-100+% at this time, which is beyond ridiculous. Imagine next week.... Those doomsday scenarios discussed about whole firms going belly-up as a result of hedging against MNKD may prove to be true after all.

I'm sure you will start seeing the TEVA thesis now as they are the largest generic pharmaceutical company in the world... As the leading generic pharmaceutical company in the world, Teva is pleased to offer the largest portfolio of safe, effective, and FDA-approved generic products on the market. Approximately 375 Teva medicines are currently available, covering all major therapeutic categories. - See more at: www.tevagenerics.com/products/product-search#sthash.2OCeBkSR.dpufLots of potential technosphere apps possible so the speculation will continue to run rampant...anyone familiar with Copaxone It is used via needle injection for MS and when my brother in law comes to visit, it is in the refrigerator at all times: Copaxone is given as an injection under your skin. You may be given instructions on how to inject your medicine at home. Do not use this medicine at home if you do not fully understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of needles and syringes used in giving the medicine. Some people receiving a Copaxone injection have had a severe reaction. Tell your caregiver right away if you feel anxious, warm, itchy, tingly, or have a pounding heartbeat, tightness in your throat, or trouble breathing during the injection. This type of reaction may occur even after you have been using this medicine for several months. Ok, enough pumping from me today

Any demand added to the S/D equation can only help the long position but ...
Does this add another psychological risk factor to the short position? I assume the closing price on the TASE would impact the opening price for MNKD in the Nasdaq. Yes, there are after-hour trading windows here but this adds a whole new trading window to be paranoid about as a short. Now, after struggling to get to sleep, perhaps by counting short borrowing cost %'s jumping over the trading desk, shorty has to worry about what is happening 1/2 way around the world while he/she sleeps. Buckle the chin-straps, short headwind is growing
