Continues to ask about Sanofi ending partnership. Jay: get it through your thick skull, Sanofi is not walking away.

Yeah, they had a number of callers fishing for bad news - just waiting for the next hit pieces to see how they turn things.

Actually I would beg to differ, if you follow his strategy. He is continuing to seed doubt...

He is definitely not an idiot. He is a player in the short game and wants to understand to what extent this stock can be shorted. I think there were two purposes for harping on what happens if Sanofi terminates the partnership. The first being actual information gathering. The second being an attempt to get words from the horses mouth on what could occur should the agreement be terminated. These words are easily spun by bashers. I mean he basically gave AF a headline "MNKD will use 50M TASE stock purchase to fund Afrezza commercialization when SNY cancels deal".
People aren't idiots just because you don't understand their actions.
Edit. verbage

I really wish they would have responded to Jay indicating they have nothing to believe the partnership will be terminated and therefore, cannot comment or speculate on Jay's question. It's like Jay casts a spell over them and they feel compelled to answer him vs refute his false assertions.

I was glad the question was asked... We found out they are still working closely with Sanofi and pulling out is not on the radar. More importantly we found out, contrary to what the shorts have been saying, that first January is the soonest they can notify Mannkind they want to pull out, not when they can pull out and that the soonest ("worst case scenario") that they can demand the repayment of the money MNKD owes them is 10 years!

They did respond with the part in bold but stopped at your "and" but I get what your saying. Speaking of Mr. Butt, funny how he was a no show. Must be really busy.

I'll give Matt grace as he's probably on Vicodin or something for his recent surgery. But the questions asked were setups. The answers should have been prepped and ready. Instead they fumbled, mumbled and blew several spin opportunities.

People aren't idiots just because you don't understand their actions. Edit. verbage I listened. He is not an idiot or likely conspiring with fudsters. In fact, he may have been doing his job. Until the Sanofi meet management presentation and the 10Q, Tase offering announcement and CC with MNKD, there has been precious little information coming from either company. This environment has fostered way too much discussion 'in the abstract'. The partnership question is and remains a significant 'what if'. Actually, it is an enormous issue for MNKD, but perhaps just a rounding error for SNY (if you consider the reduced niche role (for needle phobic) SNY appears to have in mind for Afrezza while it focuses on establishing its injected, home grown basal and prandial products for bot T1 and T2 diabetics). I am quite sure Olsen focused on what SNY management did and did not say about MNKD during their presentation, and how Afrezza was depicted in the slides. While his question about partnership and ability to relaunch on there own was probably overly pointed, the 'what if' the partnership is terminated portion was not. Notwithstanding Matt's commen, what Olsen elicited was that management is not overtly planning to go it alone if the partnership is terminated. I don't think it is going to happen personally. SNY has an interesting placeholder in Afrezza that doesn't cost too much given their scale and the importance of insulin products in their overall business plan.

Perhaps he is an idiot and perhaps not. I do not know him personally or well enough to tell. I do know he is trying to do his job, which is getting answers from a management that seems intent in giving very few. Perhaps you are of the opinion that they should only be asked what is comfortable, but personally I like to see management being asked difficult questions, so I can see how they respond. Today I was less than impressed.
May I add, that the last thing we need at this point is for Mankind's cheerleading team to take offense on how analysts are treating a non-performing company.

Couldn't agree more with these two observations - unfortunately, Hakan just doesn't seem to be able to handle some of these really obvious questions once he is up off his prepared page. not suggesting he should 'spin' his answers, just that he not fumble the ball each and every time he gets it!

Olsen asked the same question last quarter and Matt essentially gave him the same answer but also told him where the partnership agreement could be viewed if he wanted pertinent facts. Obviously, Olsen did not take the time to read it or wants to continue to plant seeds of doubt for his clients to cover their short positions.

What about Hakan's "invitation" to any interested parties--to contact him about Techosphere partnership possibilities. This seemed really strange-and weak to me. In general, Hakan and Matt sounded on the defensive --as well they might--but did little to inspire confidence. Same old, same old, I guess.

Jay is from GS. What favors has GS done for MNKD the past year except to downgrade, and then short the stock. Jay's questions were totally loaded. I listened to them. Too bad GS didn't ask me that question. I would've loved to call them out for their hypocrisy.
