So Hakan is still around collecting salary until July 2017 - doesn't sound like he was fired.

There are more than meet the EYES. I'd rather have Al doing the negotiation of the fate of the company. He is the heavyweight, majority shareholder. The company observes Thanksgiving Thurs and Fri 11/26-27/15, hence 8K today. At this juncture, Mnkd needs a great leader, negotiator, entrepreneur with public speaking charisma, who is able to charm Wall Street, friends and foes alike. Hakan fits better as a COO somewhere else.
BTW, Mnkd has been run as a private company anyway. Why not let the proprietor owner run it. My rec'd is still Dr. James Shannon as Al's long-term successor if the co. remains independent.
Let's see if Al accepts $1 annual salary plus stock option, and/or RSU based on pps.

Or are those here of the impression Al wanted to take back control of the company to get us through this period? The thought crossed my mind a few times this week.... Al steps down for 6 or 8 months knowing nothing much will be happening, and leaves Hakan (in reality the COO) in charge to run operations..... Then Al returns when there's decisions to be made..... Seems like a stretch though....

Hakan is 65 going on 66 (or is he already 66 going on 67). Maybe he just sees nothing happening at MNKD in the next year or so that excites him enough to delay his retirement any further.
Not everyone wants to work into their 70s, 80s, 90s.

True true, we as retail shareholders, have provided capital here, while the company has done nothing to protect our interests just yet-- I don't think for a minute, or even a second, that Al Mann would not remediate transgressions against us po retail folk.... Jeez Al, we really need the money. Goldman Greenlight Renaissance thestreet tourbillion etc etc etc have been making millions monthly here.... time to strap on that stainless steel mnholdem

If he had been fired the BOD wouldn't have asked him to stay until July 2017. He won't need a golden parachute, he has stock.

He won't need a golden parachute, he has stock. Where did you read the BOD asked him to stay? If he was resigning why would they need to offer him severance of two years pay? It does say Al has taken over as interim CEO, so Hakan will not be doing the job he's being paid for through 2017 = severance package in disguised words.

How is it not severance when Al is taking over as interim CEO per the press release, it sounds like per the usual they are disguising the truth that this is severance pay after a messy breakup.

Sounds like he still will be providing services to the company... What I read is that Hakan is still on staff until July 2017, and Al is interim CEO without a salary, or any interest on the loan from him to MNKD.

Clever wording to not offer up the truth which is they will be paying this clown for another 2yrs (severance pay) while Al acts as interim CEO and Hakan collects his salary and stays out of the wheelhouse. The press release contradicts itself, Al is interim CEO but Hakan will remain "on staff" bring paid his lofty CEO salary plus bonus, they are mincing words plain and simple. Hakan was trashed and they are paying him 2yrs worth of salary to leave, I doubt he will even physically be at the new HQ. Read between the lines.
