This is fantastic news and very impressive stuff. Mahalo to all for posting this. Most excellent! I'm going to add to my position right now. We may not see results from this till later this year, but it's coming. IMO, we're finally turning the corner; Sanofi is firmly in the rearview mirror, and we control our own destiny. IMO, the more I think about it, the more I realize that Sanofi never saw us as a partner, but instead as a direct threat that would cannibalize their own in-house, diabetic medicines. Everything changed with them when the new CEO came on board; Sanofi overpriced Afrezza on purpose to prevent broad based insurance coverage, did very limited/bare bone marketing by contract, and instructed their sales reps to make Afrezza a low-priority on their calls. This begs the question why? IMO it was because Sanofi never was happy with a 65/35% split on the profits, and with a successful launch of Afrezza, MNKD share price would soar to compete with the SNY share price. That scared the bejeebees out of Sanofi. How would a SNY shareholder feel if that happened? IMO Sanofi tried to bankrupt MNKD and failed. And now today, we're still here; free, independent, on our way to future profitability, and will greatly help millions of diabetics worldwide. I never stopped believing in the blockbuster potential of Afrezza having a global impact. This drug will change the way diabetics relate to their disease, including me. Aloha. Afrezza is a threat to not only the current injectable insulins... including SNY's Apidra.. but also to the new innovations coming out.. such as the bionic pancreas .. Why pay for an expensive machine when its so easy to use Afrezza and get even better A1Cs ?? I know some people here are excited about the bionic pancreas because it will supposedly take care of everything .. I have my doubts that it will be that easy, not to mention the cost and the fact that the hexamer insulin will still be used. I can imagine that the people developing these machines have sunk a lot of money into their inventions and could see Afrezza as a threat... I disagree that T2s are our primary market... our market is across the board.. Afrezza may not be for everyone... but it certainly will be for many if not most, and that is a THREAT!!! With the lowered price... it will be cost effective and also easy.. "just breathe" .. a CGM is nice.. but you don't even need that... and I'm so excited to know that MNKD is putting together a sales force so we can finally get the word out hopefully in a way that SNY never did...

At the end of the day we see that Publicis Touchpoint is hiring 71 people who will be on the Publicis payroll, but working for MannKind: 60 Area Business Managers and 11 Nurse Educators.

I put these all in a table. Some low population states are omitted while high population states have been set up with multiple regions. Florida has the most with 5 Area Business Managers, while CA, NY, PA, etc. have 4 ABMs. It appears that they're setting up blanket coverage for the lower 48 and Puerto Rico. Mannkind should also look into setting up Hubs in Walmarts and CVS's. I say this because when I resided in El Paso Texas during 2012 through 2013, it was very obvious while shopping at a Super Walmart each week, I observed many individuals (mostly overweight) in wheel chairs, individuals using canes, and some who were borderline (barely walking on their own). I've never seen nothing like this throughout the 38 states and all the years that I have traveled. I made a comment to the pharmacist (because of the longs lines), you must do a lot of business here, she replied yes... it's mostly diabetics.
This is what prompted me from investing in technology stocks and into diabetic stocks, (MNKD Only).
This is great news for Mannkind/ABMs, it's a start in the right direction but it should not stop at ABM... go all out with the addition of Hubs.
What are "Hubs?" Serious question.

Re. Hubs. Look at the center of a wheel with spokes, that is a Hub. In context of logistics, a Hub is the center of distribution.

This is great news! Does anyone know the kind of bite these guys take? All of these contract marketing companies work the same way, and it is an ala carte relationship. In some cases they just provide a few warm bodies and in other cases they provide a full-service sales and marketing organization. Obviously the more services they provide the more it costs, and some contracts have performance-based bonuses included. Without knowing the details of the contract, it is hard to say how much MNKD will have to pay.
One wild card is whether the sales force will be Publicis hires or MNKD hires as that affects compensation and who has to pay for expansion or termination costs. Contractors are not well-paid relative to pharma company reps, but it would be surprising if MNKD could hire this kind of sales force for less than $5 million (that assumes roughly $85K salary, bonus, car allowance, etc.). MNKD marketing expenses would be on top of that.

What are "Hubs?" Serious question. The only way I can read that is as aisle stands promoting Afrezza. Both organizations have pharmacies already that dispense drugs so they have the logistics in place so that cannot be it. I hope the idea isn't to hand out prescription drugs without prescriptions.

I'm thinking that he meant something more like VDEX, a clinic in a clinic, but in or around a Walmart, CVS, etc. Until Afrezza is OTC, your hope is Straight Outta Compton...

I would like to see as many of the new hires as possible be actually using Afrezza. It seems to me that the salesforce could be much stronger if it has personal experience with the insulin it is recommending, especially if the sales rep has tried other insulins. If every salesman was endorsing the product for his own use and talking about how it worked for them, and of course qualified to be a pharmaceutical sales rep, now that would be one hell of a sales organization!
Just imagine an army of the Afrezza users singing the praises of Afrezza and working as sales reps for Mannkind. I just have to think that, pound for pound, real users would outsell anyone else.

Would be nice but what you suggest is illegal. You can't hire people because they specifically fit a medical criteria.

On the other hand you can hire prescription (and non-prescription) drug users to appear in TV commercials...where is the dividing line?
