What are your thoughts for today? Also, historically when will Mannkind release PR?
Thanks.

My thoughts and expectations -- these are very much speculation.
Nothing Earth shattering in terms of news. Matt will explain how we are paying for the new sales force as promised in the Afrezza commercialization CC. Pay freeze has remained in effect until now and employees/contractors are increasingly being paid in stock/options. Maybe upfront money from medical supply distributor, but it seems way too soon for that. Perhaps some other creative source of financing has been found. (Private funds/loan for a percentage of Afrezza pie?) No news on SNY settlement, but decreasing expenses and liabilities from that partnership. An update on the corporate headquarters in Valencia. (Are we holding onto it because it is collateral against the SNY loan?) Ray updates on internal trials and Epinephrine progress, maybe more on planned Afrezza trials and pediatric continuity. Analysts have more information about financials but focus questions on egging MNKD to say negative things about SNY. Hopefully bankruptcy is shown to be completely off the table for the next year or two without serious harm to shareholder value.
-----
MNKD 2.0 is an attempt to re-image themselves partially as a speculative biotechnology company rather than solely a product manufacturer, since that hasn't been going too hot. I expect Ray will talk about trials and what material gains we have from this quarter's R&D expenses.
-----
MNKD usually releases PR right at 9am Eastern and ER after market at 5pm(?) Eastern.
ER CC is at 5pm Eastern today.

Might be more Earth-preserving than Earth-shattering, but any news that takes bankruptcy off the table for one to two years without severe dilution would be a big deal for me. In fact, I'd be delighted with just six months.

Does no covering means shorts are not phased by whatever is coming out tonight?
If MNKD massively dilutes does this give short sellers the opportunity to close out their positions?

I agree with Cathode; I'm not expecting anything material on this call...but I am expecting to hear something about financing that takes a lot of uncertainty off the table. I'm hoping it is not involving dilutive financing...but I've been around a long time....and "things change." Regardless, diluted or not, if they can let us know that they have it covered from a financing perspective for at least the balance of the year, I think that will go a long way towards getting us off of this terribly depressed stock price that we've been seeing.
I am emboldened that Matt said he's not planning on tapping the LOC ("currently" anyway)...and he seemed confident about financing needs on calls. So we'll see.

Safe to say shorts are not concerned about the CC. Usually share price does not do well following our CCs, from my recollection (others here will know better than me). Of course the answer to your second question is yes, but shorts have had a multitude of opportunities to close out their positions anyway. Some of it seems to be "rinse and repeat" but regardless, there's constantly been a huge number of shares short for quite a while now, despite their opportunities to close positions at a profit.

In my opinion, "how" they get financing to begin / re-start this rollout, is the only material information that is important. If they spell out their rollout financing plan that will take them in 2017, this will be material. Now, if it turns out to be non-dilutive such as partnership, territory sale, Sanofi settlement, or RLS milestone that would be exciting news, however, any way cash hits the bank to meaningfully extend the runway is very material information.

It's the calm before the storm. Longs are holding, shorts are holding and we'll both know soon which way and how hard the wind is blowing.
One possibility for dilution without short covering is if MannKind sells a block of stock to an institution or other large buyer with the provision that it be held for some period of time, much like they attempted to do with the TASE deal.

Just for a point of reference Anybody can ask a question on a CC Call. You just have to dial in at the number and state your name, and company if any. Then you will be placed in the line to ask questions. It is not just the analyst's that can ask a question.
