Based on tweets today from Mike Castagna, it looks like MannKind will be using OUTsulin as a marketing tool. I'm trying to figure out if I like it or not. What is exciting about this, is the fact that Mike C. is confident that he has enough scientific basis to proclaim the speed of Afrezza leaving the body (less chance of hypoglycemia) to not get sideways with the FDA. I think that is great. Because less chance of hypoglycemia is a very important factor for both insurers and diabetics.

I think it's cute, clever and shows an athletic egghead/gumby character... remember what Michelin and Pillsbury character did for their products.. it also shows that one may have more energy on Afrezza.. again.. I like it

I am not the target group and yes, there is some Retro style about it that might be something, but Insulin crosses the street to meet outsulin made me not hyperventilating. I try to anticipate how the campaign will look like and it makes me slightly nervous.

I can see "Outsulin" being more of an educational character than marketing. Maybe he's hosting educational videos, but there's no danger of him running across our TV screens anytime soon.

Another character developed by Precision Effects ad agency: As you can see, a mascot type of "spokesperson" can convey a lot of serious information. This is the ad agency (hired by MannKind) that specializes in marketing disruptive treatments/drugs. Creating an image that is easily recalled by the viewer is important. Also, I think that there could be multiple approaches to marketing Afrezza and this character associated with "OUTsulin" may be only one of several creative ways of getting the message out about how good Afrezza is for treating diabetes. I would hope that a character like the one posted by Mike C will market Afrezza in a way that makes it appear to be much SIMPLER and SAFER to use than injected insulin. Note the theme of the TV ad above: "Colon Cancer Screening Made Easy".

I still don't care for Outsulin. And I still don't care as long as MNKD succeeds.
Purple guy only works for me if its for the kiddos. Doesn't seem retro to me. Seems pediatric.
But again - whatever works, I'll take it. But makes me nervous because I'm not confident in the choices. But I'm also not clear on what those choices are, so .... blah.
I will say the booth looked busy in the pictures. So que sera sera.

Insulin begins AND ends with "in". I hope they considered replacing the second "in" rather than the first. InsulOUT sounds better to me than OUTsulin.
But what do I know? I invested in MNKD.

You got spot on! Simple and Safe. Now, what population is it that JDRF and MannKind are partnering to target? Pediatrics. Who truly cares what not only can be simple, but most importantly, safe to have their loved one(s) use daily? Parents. Who has parents that care about these two things the most? Pediatrics. Do pediatrics like needles? No. Do pediatrics like doing something simple? Yes. Do pediatrics like corny jokes and silly characters (Outsulin mascot)? Yes. Do parents like something safe for their children? Yes. Etc etc etc...

I think they should make a version of the "Outsulin mascot" into an inhaler with flavored insulin.

IMO, I think it will be targeted towards pediatrics. So, IMO, it represents a character for them to relate to. "Outsulin mascot" is shown with running gear on, signifying he too has to take his insulin everyday, but he gets to be (OUTside!) worry free.
