New scripts went up by 16 this week from the previous week.
At this rate it's looking pretty grim.

New scripts went up by 16 this week from the previous week. At this rate it's looking pretty grim. It was always going to be slow on the uptick for new scripts. Samples come first. Encouraged by the 26% increase on refills.
Sales reps are perhaps picking the low hanging fruit of those who have dropped out during the 2016 transition. Especially with the new titration NDC.
Two weeks doesnt make a trend in any event. I'm not discouraged.

According to Mike C. the script numbers will not start rising until next month so I think the script numbers being up this week is early and a nice surprise. I'm hopeful for a steady climb from here week over week. Before the end of this year it would be great if Mannkind turned profitable.

Looking grim? Oh, please. Anything but. The rate of increase over the last two weeks is about 16% each week. That means scripts double every 5 weeks. Run that out for a few quarters and see where they are.
I have no illusions that the trend will continue, but if it does, and it's a big if, Afrezza will be a blockbuster in no time.
Grim? Bah! Way too early for that.

I hope we hit 1000 scripts by the end of the year. Those numbers are important psychological numbers for MannKind to hit for many reasons. Once we have samples to docs I'll expect faster growth. Look at mid to late October for numbers to exceed linear growth if they do. |

Larger scripts will come with advertising. Without TV commercials don't expect numbers to exceed 2000-3000 imo. We'll need patients to ask for afrezza with docs.

Good to see NRx and TRx with a nice increase. Up better than down. Too early to call victory or failure. Food for thought, the diabetes nurse educators, think Mike drank a few beers and threw darts at a map of the US to determine where they were to be located? Those DNEs (Diabetes Nurse Educators) are going to hang out at the key endo offices to soft sell, lend clinical expertise, train patients, handle prior auth etc. Sam's endo has over 35,000 patients in the practice and while not all are diabetic, many obviously are. Mannkind will go back to the key endos that supported the first launch to try to rebuild trust. If for the first few months, the sales team and DNEs only work the top 1,000 endo offices that alone could bear some nice fruit. The next 8 weeks are going to be one hell of a ride. We start seeing 22% W/W uptick in NRx and a positive trend in TRx demonstrating patients staying on Afrezza and SP should start to move. I hope if we use equity to raise more $$ we can do so at $3 - $4 share and Matt bites the bullet and sells another 30mm shares. If Castagnas plan works and we get another $60mm - $80mm in operating cash, its showtime.

Are you forgetting that the supply of SNY Afrezza was down to the few boxes this week, and the problems people were having getting product? Next week's numbers will be the first week with MNKD Afrezza. |

Are you forgetting that the supply of SNY Afrezza was down to the few boxes this week, and the problems people were having getting product? Next week's numbers will be the first week with MNKD Afrezza. I'm not forgetting anything. After a while you tend to focus more on the outcome and pay little attention to the surrounding circumstances/delays. Excuses don't generate profit. Sales do. MNKD doesn't have much money and I actually think every single week matters. With that said, I think next Friday will be more telling. |
