For a player like Merck to get back to the deal table with billions in mind for new pacts would likely spell a major difference for the industry. Of the big players, Sanofi remains unsatisfied and in need of significant new deals. And the string of new CEOs like Emma Walmsley at GSK and Dave Ricks at Eli Lilly are also getting more aggressive in competing for deals. Frazier has now planted his standard in biopharma dirt, with the money and inclination to make another splash. (Notice Sanofi..she has to be there..but this 1 day after Mike offer sales jobs to Mercks laid off sales team...only one way Merck is going to get them back is to make a deal..imo..)

Sorry, If I'm Mike I let Sanofi bid on any possible deals but I only use them to get a better deal with someone else. All things being equal in a deal with Sanofi and another possible partner I'd take the other partner. But that's just me.

If I was Mike C. and Sanofi approached him with any kind of deal, I'd tell them where to put it. End of story.

Lead them on (negotiating leverage) & stand them up! Bye Felisha We sound like the guy that gets dumped and forever fantasizes about his ex asking him back, only so he can push them away. The story rarely works out according to the fantasy.

Exactly what I was thinking..then I wonder if Sanofi would be hostile..or watch things happen..Sanofi has a sales problem..it's there problem..glad it is no longer Mannkinds problem!
