Does anyone really think that millions of people tune in every day to see who is ringing the bell? This is basically an ego booster trip to NY for MC that the shareholders are paying for. I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to Mike. I typically try to give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. There's no doubt he's working hard and trying... I don't agree with a lot of the things he's done but the company continues to operate so... something must be going right... Having said that, this decision ranks very low on the "things that irk me about Mike". He's tried to be creative with a low budget. A lot of the things he's done may or may not have been taking the company car for a joyride. I remember the sports games where he would blast on the jumbotron, the racecar sponsorships, etc. The board should be reigning him in if they disagreed with company money spent. Long, long, long story short, this is a very cheap way to gain a headline. There will likely be a lot of investing websites that pick up on the story... All in all, it's maybe a couple thousand dollar trip, all in... If it brings in just one extra prescription or raises the share price by $0.01, it was money well spent. Low risk investment if you ask me.

Great news. Nice recognition. Guess I was wrong about MC.

Without Mike I was 90% in the red zone, with Mike I am at 12% ( mp 3.1 ) green zone and actively ( buying from time to time under 3 ) waiting the days coming, but yes you are right the formula Indy sponsor was a big issue.

The guy that reads the numbers on the ping ping balls for the lottery also has millions of viewers. But they aren't viewing because they care about the ping pong ball guy.
This is the same thing.
It is not a bad thing that mc is doing this. But you lose credibility when you claim this is a big deal for mnkd.

Overall - I think ringing the bell is a good thing especially if it coincides which Tyvaso DPI approval. My concern is if he is on a business show after like Bloomberg or Fox and he starts talking about V-Go and conflating it with afrezza for T2s like he did on the talk the other day.
Maybe over the weekend he will change his mind on V-Go and straighten out his thinking with T1s vs T2s. He needs to develop a clear elevator speech discussing how Tyvaso DPI is leveraging technosphere, how Receptor life is also leveraging technosphere, the T1 market for afrezza and then the huge T2 market for afrezza.

Lemonade... just a short jump to Danbury; maybe there is other business being combined with the trip to the NASDAQ ( goo.gl/maps/RY3ZUQmcVRFZ7v7c7)

Is there a cost associated with being the company that gets to ring the bell? How do companies get chosen? (Really looking forward to next week btw)

I am not a genius, but to understand the tactics he followed to distract attention on the real condition of the firm. Who is long here know Mannkind was on the verge for bankruptcy, and yes he did a great job , and today Mannkind rang the bell... I had the impression somebody rang the bell at my door today.. and then I woke up

You guys are being short sighted. Mike is NYC to ring the bell and to visit Wall Street. He probably has meetings set up all day to talk about MNKD. He is making the rounds getting the NEW AND IMPROVED STORY out. He could be taping a segment for MAD MONEY with dickhead Jim Cramer. Mike has initiated a massive turnaround and now is the time to let Wall Street know MNKD will be CFBE and very profitable. MNKD will make $100M+ in the next 12 months from DPI. Most of that will fall to the bottom line which means positive EPS. Which also means MNKD will be judged on a PE Basis. I expect INITIATIONS and UPGRADES to start pouring in. MNKDs TIME HAS COME!!! Sit back and RIDE THE WAVE!

I think you just want to find something negative about the situation. Your bitterness and hatred is permeating your posts. Fact remains, millions will see it and it’s a big deal.

This is such a fantastic opportunity to bring global awareness to MannKind. If Tyvaso DPI approval occurs on the same Monday, then WOW. This may be epic. Sometimes you are so over-the-top that it is hard to take you seriously. Does anyone really think that millions of people tune in every day to see who is ringing the bell? This is basically an ego booster trip to NY for MC that the shareholders are paying for. Aw, you sound sad. Here's a virtual hug and gesture of consideration in your direction and the folks who liked your post.

This is the exciting sort of live CNBC coverage we can expect on Monday: www.cnbc.com/opening-bell/Basically, blink and you miss it. On a good day, the Squawk Box host might pronounce your corporate name correctly.

To be considered to ring the bell at the market open or close all you have to do is fill out a very short application. You don't have to be a company to ring the bell, you could be a philanthropy or an organization celebrating a milestone of some sort. Not sure about the cost as I have no knowledge in that area, but given how orchestrated they are, there must be a cost. There is no free lunch in this world, unless you are standing next to me in the McDonalds line on the day MNKD hits $10, then you can feel free to super size on me.
As far as this as a promotional tool, I think it is a great way to reach the financial world. Fox Business, CNBC and Bloomberg all cover the opening and closing bell. They usually read a one paragraph blurb about the company. Sometimes one of the Busienss channels will conduct a short interview with the CEO of the bell ringing company if there is something news worthy. As far as audience, CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" audience for the last year has ranged from 300,000 to 229,000 viewers per show (source: CableRankings web site). It would be a real stretch for me to believe million's of people are watching the bell ringing. None-the-less, those who are watching most likely make up a pretty influential group of investment minded folks. People who can drive our stock price (up and down).
It would be interesting to look at how the stocks of bell ringing companies faired compared to their peers six months, and one year post ringing. Not a study I am willing to pay for, at least until MNKD hits $25.
