It's an advertising campaign for NASDAQ, so of course they are going to trump up the reach and claim "millions". Just like how running an ad on those networks will "reach millions".
This is firmly in the "oh that's cool", but this isn't going to move the needle so to speak.

If it's tied to Tyvaso DPI approval, to quote our president, "it's a big fucking deal".

So, is this an invite by NASDAQ or do companies request these opportunities?
Found this related to visibility: TOWER AND MARQUEE VISIBILITY During the hour of the opening and closing bell, companies get access to one hour of exclusive advertising on our Nasdaq Tower and Marquee. During this time, companies have the option to display a :30 second no audio advertisement, which will alternate with a welcome message from Nasdaq and photos live from inside the studio.
The Nasdaq creative team is available to assist in the production of your :30 second no audio video for your bell ceremony for a minimal production fee.

A huge dreamboat with inhalable mealtime insulin and Mannkind logo, alternating with a welcome message is fine by me 😉, do we think the sp rise today is just a coincidence? Things that make you go hmmm 🤔

What will make this into an epic event is FDA approval announcement prior to MannKind ringing the opening bell.
In my mind, you gotta be hella confident on approval to expose yourself to this level of attention with an FDA approval projected to be the exact same day. Not a shred of doubt can exist.
Can you even imagine the REAL excitement and buzz this will naturally create there at the event in real time if/when the announcement is made?
This could be epic.

You simply apply to ring (or possibly wring depending on your stock's performance) the bell. I would also bet the company marketing this has a sales team that reaches out as well.

If it's tied to Tyvaso DPI approval, to quote our president, "it's a big fucking deal". You could just say Tyvaso approval is "a big f-ing deal", with or without the bell. The discussion thread is about the ringing the stock market opening bell. But yeah, Tyvaso approval is a big deal too. The difference being that Mannkind would not get free TV time for getting Tyvaso DPI approval alone.
Ringing the bell might might be invoiced by NASDAQ, and CEO travel has a cost, but the TV coverage will be free, and it will be viewed primarily by INVESTORS (as compared to who viewed the flying hamburger commercials aimed at PWDs who use mealtime insulin).
I've always wondered, what would the investor community at large do if they knew a company had invented and was selling FDA-approved needle-free inhalable human insulin? Maybe we'll find out. Somebody with a Reddit account, feel free to alert them too.

Sometimes you are so over-the-top that it is hard to take you seriously. Does anyone really think that millions of people tune in every day to see who is ringing the bell? This is basically an ego booster trip to NY for MC that the shareholders are paying for. A few things— • The iconic bell ringing ceremony at Nasdaq MarketSite represents an enormous opportunity to showcase your company and celebrate its achievements and milestones before a global audience. Hosted by a Nasdaq senior executive, our opening and closing bell ceremonies provide a platform for companies to generate meaningful brand exposure. • Each ceremony is carefully choreographed by our team of event specialists to deliver impactful visibility for your company, including a live stream on the Nasdaq Webcam, MarketSite Tower in Times Square and participating television networks such as CNBC, Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV and BNN— reaching millions of viewers worldwide. www.nasdaq.com/marketsite/bell-ringing-ceremonyThere you have it. NASDAQ themselves stating this reaches millions of viewers worldwide. Perhaps you are over the top in your assumptions and inherent negativity? You bet they tune in it’s the opening bell for goodness sake‘s! I’m so excited about this. So much exposure! I see Mike as a stock market person as I am. I’ve read so much about the past history of it. This must be one of the highlights of his career.

Mike flies coach, and has been on more flights in the past weeks than most have in the past year, your point about CEO travel cost is amusing at best. Plus Danbury is around the corner...
