I will no doubt get trashed for saying the following but it needs to said.
I've been coming here for several months but my visits are becoming increasingly rare. That's because I'm finding it little better than the yahoo message board or any other forum that allows any and all anonymous user to post whatever he or she desires.
As a result, you have a thread that begins with "Interesting posts on the Yahoo message board. If true, this is (as the Donald would say) HUGE!" and another entitled "For What It's Worth"
Both threads are purely speculative, with no one really knowing the veracity of the person who started the discussion, nor the validity of the basic information being discussed. Nevertheless, this discussion will proceed for days upon days and page after page, with the endless flow of speculation over speculation and guesses about guesses.
How useful is information or disinformation emanating from unknown posters with unknown motivations and all of the subsequent speculation?
This board clearly has some very useful posters but it could be so much better. Having a few knowledgable gatekeepers would be immensely helpful. So, too, the requirement that posters have some concrete, verifiable information before being able to initiate a discussion.
I haven't given this a whole lot of thought, although I must admit to having registered as a member out of pure frustration.
To all those who created this board and work tirelessly to make it useful, you have both my gratitude and my apologies for the above critique.

Greg, I agree that the board isn't as valuable to me personally as it once was and hopefully will one day be again. But I don't think it's the fault of anyone other than the circumstances. For better or worse, "we are where we are", "we know what we know" and "we don't know what we don't know". There just isn't a lot to talk about other than developments and news items that are on the fringe or only tangentially related to MNKD's success. Right now, the vortex is Afrezza scripts. On that, there is only so much that can be said.
As a result, I post far less because I don't feel like I have anything to add. I do monitor the board fairly closely and take away what value I can. I wouldn't begrudge anyone from speculating for discussion's sake about anything related to MNKD. Sometimes it's a hassle sorting though the threads in which I have no interest, but that's my problem.
The gatekeepers here do a very good job at the one task that is absolutely necessary to this board's continued value...they don't let it turn into Yahoo in the only way that really matters by insisting on civility and, for the most part, requiring that posters stay on topic.
Let us get past Afrezza's early doldrums and find some success. Let us get past the technosphere silent period. The board will have much to talk about again one day (hopefully) soon.

Well, gosh Greg. When you find something new and insightful about MNKD that has not already been hashed and rehashed feel free to chip in a relevant post. Until then it is literally like watching paint dry - this story is going to play out in long chapters, not wrapped up neatly to please the timeline of impatient "investors" (I use that term lightly because it is rare to find an actual investor - mostly just short termers who think in terms of weeks, not years). This board is far and away the most useful tool there is available to anyone outside the inner circle of MNKD and SNY management. Anybody willing to spend any time at all digging through will find excellent posts on any topic you can name. I would question the utility of your very own post - what value have you added?

Mensa we are not. This is not an exclusive club, even though there is a dress code (see board rule 8.1).

dudley... we can blame the circumstances and Harry. He posts all the new info before anyone else can get a chance. We're all left either having to speculate or discuss what we ate for breakfast Scones are so nice right out of the oven... "for what it's worth". 8.1? Never saw that. Hold on... I'm back. I concur with greg. Much quantity, little quality.

Dudley makes a good point. No value added here.

Mensa we are not. This is not an exclusive club, even though there is a dress code (see board rule 8.1). Mensa is an unfair comparison. They charge to take the test but I can assure you, many here could pass it. BTW, speaking of ymb, docfrezza just posted another rare item (he seems entirely legit, no ax to grind, nothing to promote) --- "validating" the dual Toujeo/Afrezza sales rep mode starting within a couple weeks. You hear these whispers from relatively stable posters and it seems to add some validity But your point is well taken, to paraphrase Lt. Friday, "Just the facts, just the facts" -- we've all been getting emotional and distracted, and who wouldn't be. For the record, I reported the naked shorting to SEC for the third time today..... what do these people DO? Clear violations of the law...

Thanks for the positive reinforcement savzak, dudley, and mnholdem. The mods here are not perfect, and many of us have full time jobs (that are not moderating a message board). It's a constant challenge balancing keeping the riff-raff out with excessive censoring. If you want the board to be more useful, you can go ahead and contribute something useful anytime you're ready. The quality of this board is dependent not so much on the moderators as the quality of our posters.

He left the door open when he vacationed in Greece and now look at all these people.

Seriously, dude, this also must be said. Your definition of what is useful may be a whole lot different than what others think.

They also accept standardized testing scores on many widely-used tests...so it is not just a our-test-only path. But they do charge members a fee to be members...after all it does cost something to run the group. But let's not confuse high IQ with great investor or anything other than fantastic at solving complex problems / thinking in unconventional ways.

Anybody willing to spend any time at all digging through will find excellent posts on any topic you can name. I would question the utility of your very own post - what value have you added? First, my appreciation to Savzak for his civility, I expected much worst. To Dudley, I would much rather watch paint dry than have wasted my time reading the two latest threads started by trenddiver. Not only did he start the "for what it's worth" thread, which has already garnered 2,936 views, he followed that up with a thread that suggests MannKind would be better off moving on from Sanofi. MannKind already has more than 410 million shares outstanding, along with a $4 stock and a large debt load, is his suggestion really worth anyone's time? Well, gosh Dudley, if you're happy with the board as is and have the time to dig through all the fud, great. For my part, I think it's mind-numbing to think that some silly completely unverifiable anecdote from trenddiver's vacation got almost 3k views. What an incredible waste of time. I think I've said enough. As for my chipping in a relevant post, there's far more information on this board from me than you realize. Anonymity has many sides my friend.

greg... I actually found some of the responses in the "for what it's worth" thread useful. I appreciate the thoughtful comments refuting the FUD even if it is a bit repetitive. We know there is FUD out there. To me it is more reassuring to at least feel I'm keeping abreast of what it is.

You are free to think what you like but I must agree with both savzak and dudley. I do agree that we should all value our time so I think should spend yours where it is most rewarding to you and if it is not this Board that is fine.
I do think however, that the value of this board goes beyond the fact based information that is posted. One must remember this is a community of people brought together by a shared common interest, namely Mannkind, Afrezza and TS, etc... As such it is not uncommon in a community to express ones', hopes, fears and desires with others as a way to get through periods such as this, which even the most optimistic of investors find frustrating at best... including me.
I am not a psychologist but there is truth to the phrase "misery loves company" as it is best to share such with others who can truly understand and identify with what drives such emotions. As mnkd investors we can literally feel each other's pain as opposed to those (with no disrespect intended) who do not understand as they are not directly involved, such as spouses, friends or co-workers.
Yes, I find some posts imho, not worthy of a reply and perhaps (in my opinion) of questionable value when valuing my own time... And so I skip over those. But for me that is not a reflection of the value of the Board. It is more the realization that as long as I feel the post is genuine, that it is ok since I understand that we have investors with many different personalities, timelines, risk tolerances, understanding and experiences in investing (in biotech in particular and Mannkind specifically) and so I remind myself that not only do I need patience with Mannkind but also with Mankind.
The core members of this Board have a special camaraderie built on a history together from their time spent on this board and the trust that has developed with it. To varying degrees they are knowledgeable investors with a long term view of the stock, not shorts, day traders etc... So they are likely to reply or make a post that is more conversational in nature from time to time and unrelated to a specific topic, because it was meant to be part of a friendly conversation (as opposed to those on YMB) on a topic like Spiro's obsession with Mallomars. (Sorry Spiro as am not calling you out... my fatal attraction is peanut M&M's)
And as was pointed out so succinctly by savzak, during this period of silence and no real news, we wait for information on scripts and other developments. Without such information as humans it is natural to speculate on the future and to share your doubts etc with others in the same boat. I see nothing wrong with engaging in such conversations so long as they are genuine and expressed as such. After all, like it or not, we have been left to speculate or as I like to say when making such a post, to read between the tea leafs... And so everyone is entitled to an opinion, even you...
I had to step out for work and wanted to add this note to the above... As I said earlier this situation at this time with Mannkind is very frustrating for most and for some very stressful... It is during times like this you find out what people are really made of... If the stock were $20.00 ps I doubt this thread would even exist.
